Just think about what it takes to make an actual top... and then add in the fact that it is in the color you want.
It is supply/demand, if Best top thought they could make money selling full multi-color tops for Scramblers, they would be doing it.

Interesting side note that’s related and proves this point somewhat. A couple years ago best top came out with a custom color and stitching program for their JK Wrangler soft tops. You could basically get anything you wanted from their options. They made a big deal about that program and promoted it a ton and no one used it... it was a total flop.

This is also identical to the issues people have paying for “made in the US” products. I believe BD is using all US labor while Bestop is all made in Mexico (and the quality reflects it). Everyone wants to buy American until they find out the cost

I would love to see a bdco top in person. I don't think it would be easy to build a well designed and well made soft top. And agreed that you're paying for custom and American made.

I disagree about the quality of Bestop. I've been very satisfied with anything I've bought from Bestop, 2 tops, soft doors, seat covers.

I bought a BD top probably 4 years ago or so. I think I gave around $1600 for it, yeah paying that hurt. It seems to be built well. Comes with a 3rd bow. My main issue is it fits pretty tight and to reinstall the side windows it needs to be above 60 deg and in the sun. Releasing tension with the bows can be done to get side windows in, but getting it stretched back in place on the bows is still a challenge. This could be user error and not a top issue. Other than that I like it and it wasn't black. Would I give the 2600 they have raised the price to...no, depends on how much you don't want black. They have other material colors. They sent me a color sample to review to match to my interior since there are some different shades. Call them.

FYI you will have to drill through the top rail on the tub. Not sure if Bestop is the same way or not.

Somewhere here there’s a thread about the saga of my two piece soft doors. They sent me four different sets that wouldn’t mate top to bottom without a hammer or at all and I ended up piecing together one workable one-piece soft door per side that I can’t take apart without a prybar. And one side window top zipper won’t close completely.

That’s nothing compared to having one of the Bestop customer service people on the phone during all of that and having them laugh and say “I’m not surprised!”

Hopefully they’ve improved both product and service people but that experience forever soured me on them.

Their products haven't changed. I put my new Bestop Supertop on last year and the top was pretty good. I am still happy with it.

The two piece doors are a different story. Like bigwalton said, I really have a single piece door with a joint in the middle that can never be removed.

I put them together and had to bend the hell out of them to get them to line up to fit poorly on my Scrambler. All I can really say is that at least they are lighter than my hard doors when I take them off.

You Jeep is the best justification for the bd-Co top. Looks great; love the color

I contacted B-D Company regarding the 1/2 soft top they offer. They will also sell the 1/2 cab top on its own. The cost for half cab top with hardware is $1685.00.
If anyone is interested they also sent the installation guide they provide with the top because I wanted to see how it is mounted.

I inquired about a tonneau cover for my 85. Never heard back from them. I have a bestop full soft top, so I might head to the shore and check the canvas boat cover manufacturers. Maybe attach it to the same rail system bestop uses. So, until summer comes, it’ll be on the back burner. So when I head on down and get an answer, I’ll share it
