Wow, that is pretty shocking news. Wonder if it will live on digitally? Sucks because there is nothing like holding a magazine/book in your hand. I hate reading off screens. Then again, I'm old.
Wouldn't be surprised if I'm older (approaching 73). I resisted digital editions for a long time. But after picking up my 12.9" iPad with a screen that is almost as big as a printed mag, I now prefer digital editions. The photo quality is better than print and you can zoom in on them. It seems unclear if they are just discontinuing print editions or stopping publication altogether, but it sounds like the latter. In a thread about this on Wrangler Forum, a fella posted that the only Jeep mag he looked at was JPFreek...and posted a link.
I currently have digital subscriptions to 4 of the 19 magazines they appear to be discontinuing, all of which renewed last month. My timing sucks. In another example of bad timing, I had an article accepted for publication in the old Four Wheel and Sport Utility Magazine...a month or so before they discontinued publication in 2014 so it never appeared. The article, which was about the misconception that Moab required heavily-modified vehicles, did not seem appropriate for the company's other 4WD publications, all of which promoted rock-crawler type modifications and the mantra that the obstacle is more important than the destination.
