Factory console lock question (trying to get it rekeyed)

Hoping for a quick response on this, as I dropped the lock off at a locksmiths.

Hoping he could have it keyed to match my door key.

It is currently unlocked, and apparently to get the cylinder to change the wafers, you hold the latching lever down and it turns another 45 degrees and slides out.

So my question is, when you have a factory console lock cylinder, do you turn counterclockwise to unlock, or clockwise?

The console lock is completely different. It has a crush faceplate that needs to be removed . It's not to bad to remove but u need a crush tool to get it back on correctly.

I have a few pics from a guy on FB showing the cylinder sliding out......Said you have to unlock the lock, then turn it an additional 1/4 turn while holding the lever down, and the cylinder slides out.

Was able to get it done yesterday. I held the cylinder and held the lever down while the locksmith picked the lock. It goes from locked to unlocked, then spin the cylinder another 1/4 turn and it will pop/slide right out. I just had stick my door key into the lock, and then file the wafers down that were sticking up. Works great now, locks and unlocks with my factory door key.

The 65-66 Impala glovebox lock cylinders are that way. The factory Jeep console locks can be taken apart without removing the ring.

Daniel Missal on FB gave me that info (I'm off of FB now, but had the messages saved). The factory Jeep console lock doesn't require removal of the trim ring.
