I am working on my setup right now. I bought a cheep $60 kit for a Chevy Silverado and then bought a K&N filter for it. This is much less money than spending $300+ on the U built it kits.

Would be glad to see photos - especially if you're able to get it cordoned off from the engine heat somehow. Here's mine. Having trouble with my $300 solution sucking in a lot of hot air.

My plan is to fab a new box or try to mod the one that came in the kit. I want to run 2 ducts from the factory square holes to the box. There shoupd be enough air from them. Right now i just want to get it running then iron out the details.

That’s about what mine looked like on Copper.
I remember that. After finding a pair of head gasket leaks and/or valve cracks, I put in a freshly rebuilt LS over the winter and it's still throwing the same codes 😵 It's been doing better, but I suspect that might be because it's been cooler out than it was in the summer obviously.

I'm giving in and getting a professional dyno tune in a few weeks.

Hadn’t seen an update for a while and I was wondering how things were going!

We've just been using the factory intake tube. With a K&N type filter.

Shape a small piece of aluminum flashing to cover the hole.
Rivet it on with sealant.

My airbox is still partial but this is what I have going on so far. It takes in air from the side vents-

It was a bit of a struggle to find the right step down sizes to fit the MAF sensor and filter.
