Fender Flares

I currently have stock-width fender flares on my Scrambler. I am running 35x13.5 tires and I am considering wider flares. Does anyone have any recommendations on flares and what width flares are available?

Thanks.

There are not many choices out there for you. One option is the Xenon 6" flares, according to what I have learned they won't require any cutting of the body and should cover your tires well. Here's the problem, I ordered mine in August 2022 and still don't have them. Not sure what's going on there??? I ordered them through Quadratec and they have been trying to help expedite but Xenon isn't answering their phone lately so proceed with caution, I am on the verge of cancelling my order. Another option is the pocket style flares but I think they will require cutting of the body, it depends on what you are willing to do.

Thanks. I will look into the Xenon flares. I will keep the expected delay in mind before I order any. I will make sure someone can actually put their hands on a set before I buy them; however, that may be difficult as most people drop ship. I really don't want to cut any of the body.

How well do they fit? Are they worth waiting for? Thanks
I had them on my Scrambler when I owned it. The fronts seem to fit pretty well, the rears are not great, but not bad. You may need to trim some of the inside of the flares at the bottom to get good fitment as well as drilling new holes in the flares to fit your screw pattern in the jeep. There is a right side and left side if I recall correctly, so you have to make sure you are getting them on the correct sides.

I love them simply because most people don't even realize that you have extended flares since they look identical (mostly) to stockers, just wider. I've talked with so many people who didn't notice they were extended on mine until we were discussing them and I think that's perfection.

As said, the fronts fit well. The rears take a bit of work, but come out pretty decent. The rears need a lip trimmed off on their inside to fit flush; I’m told they’re actually for a different model Jeep, but it ultimately works.

I have the Xenon flairs on the rear. The fit is good even with my modified wheel opening. Seem durable as I have ripped them off several times without breaking them. They also provide decent coverage for most rigs. I am very wide and with the 6" flairs my rears stick out 3" per side. I had them on the front as well. I had to use Metal Cloak tube fenders for tire clearance. I will probably add the 4" Metal Cloak flairs eventually as I currently have 3/4 of the tire covered in the rear and almost nothing over the front.

Just an update on availability of the Xenon flares fyi, I had to make a few phone calls to stoke things up over the last week and I'm glad I did. As a result of these calls Quadratec escalated my backorder to their purchasing department to get an update and I was shocked at their response. Today Q told claimed that somehow they never put my order in when initially placed in August 2022? Q said they could reenter it and I should get them fairly quickly now because they are in stock at the manufacturer. Wait, what??? The question I posed is if they never put the order in in the first place then how were they giving me updates on the order when I would check in on it? After all I had been placing calls monthly to track the order. I didn't get an answer to that question for now, I asked them to work on that and get back to me, I emailed them back their original written updates for them to review. We'll see how it goes, I'll let you know when/if they arrive anytime soon. I hope they can get it together and fulfill this order.

Yikes. Sounds like they were blowing smoke up your backside each time you called

I Know right, below is one of multiple responses I received after calling, how can one update an order that has not been entered? The more I think about it the more the bs meter gets tripped. I guess you have to self expedite these days, kinda like self check out at the store lol. Anyway, to the op, if you want these flares they are supposedly available, I'll confirm when I get them and let you know the condition of the product.

Well ,they got here finally, they seem to be well made but the finish is a little rough. I am sending them off to my body guy to have them painted. The fronts lined up well and I have not test fit the rears yet.

That is a 33 x 12.5" x 15 tire on a 10" rim with 3.5" back space. They still stick out a little.

You have a nice rig there! Yes, those are the Xenon, I waited forever for them but I'm glad I did, I like the way they look but they were a little rough out of the box, some scratches and pitting. I am going to have them painted black because I don't think they will last long in the direct sun. No, not the same color, here is mine in the daylight fresh from the body shop back in March of this year missing the Xenons.

I wound up taking my xenon flares off and reopening to the factory flares. That massive XENON emblazoned on the front drive me batty. I do like them but why must they have s huge brand on them? Can your body guy do anything about that?

It is a different color. Mine is a 1985 with 5D Dark Honey. On another note I have a 1984 CJ-7 on which I am doing somewhat of a frame-off. I currently have the body disassembled and I am working on getting the body parts ready for painting. I am trying to decide on a color. It was originally Silver. I bought the CJ in 1987. I am leaning towards Sherwood Green, or maybe something very close with a little more metallic in it.VW, Audi and Kia have some really nice colors very close to Sherwood Green, but with a more metallic look. Do you care to opine?

Love the Shewrwood with the nutmeg color combo. That'd look awesome imo.
