Since the ZJ axles still need to get pushed out 1" (and my alignment guy is hurt), combined with the fact that last year the chains dug into the leading edge of the rear bumper (I need to section about 3" out of both sides), we will probably end up taking the Scrambler for our tree this year. But we make it a real wheeling trip and go out into the woods, with snow, and get a legit tree rather than a farmed one.

Done and done!

Was a little dicey going in, and my friend in a PowerWagon decided to turn around after having difficulty in some sections of soft snow. I was also having a hard time getting up the hills, and really used some power but my front end kept popping and jerking like something was broken. I got to the legal cutting area (only my kids with me) and settled on less than perfect trees just because I didn’t want to push my luck any further. On the way back out, one hill finally brought me to a dead stop and I couldn’t get the momentum to get up, plus the popping and clicking stopped. I was afraid I’d be winching 1/4 of the way back to the trailhead, and got out to inspect the damage: it turns out my left hub was 1/3 unlocked! Put it back in and drove out without too many more issues.
