I put one spot weld on either top bolt of my 8274-50. On the few times I actually took it off I used a cutting wheel to clean off the weld and simply unbolted the bolt.
I figure what are the chances a thief will have a cutting wheel handy when they stumble upon your winch? I figured most...
I would leave it if it were mine. These 8s will never be concourse collectors, so 'returning to original' will produce very little, if any, reward.
I'm not a huge convert to shackle reversals, but they do have their benefits when done right and this seems to have been done right.
I've run 8274s for over 35 years and always directly wired. I've probably amassed a collective 750,000 miles with 8274s hanging on the bumper. I've never, ever had any issues whatsoever.
I can't see why another failure point and a spot of greater resistance could be a benefit.
Looking at the 1KZ drive train I found, I wonder if that transfer case sifter week l will clear my centre console. Do you have any pics of your shifter locations please?
That was my thought too, although I had the E in my Hilux back in Australia and loved it. I wonder how much more work the E would entail.
I found one in Chicago with the right side drop, but it's AWD and E. I may need to do a bit more research here.
