Not sure if this pertains to your situation but this video shows how to remove the brackets from the block and clearance for the alternator to fit. Seems to be a common issue. :shrug:

Yeah the original one on yours looks more like the OEM '87-'93 timing chain. Will be interesting to see the difference in the slack between old and new.

Have you been able to confirm the build date of the original engine? I'm not sure it is totally relevant anymore since it's been rebuilt.

It's alive... The lift, not the 8. :( I did also modify the mount and brackets to relocate the pump/reservoir for more clearance around the lift.

I'm sure this is probably blasphemy but we now smoke our ribs precut (party ribs) they get way more smoke and bark. Also take up way more space but we can easily do two racks on the lower surface, more than enough for the two of us for a couple meals.

Are you the only one that believed you were going to be able to sleep at night with the used blocking ring in your rebuild? :unsure: Is it possible the damage to the spacer plate was caused by the weight of the trans/transfer case leveraging down at the plate, maybe a difference in the engine...
