It would appear that we had all these conversations back in 2004. Looks like pics USED to be on there but are now missing from the threads. I wanted to go back and check my...
No it did not have windows in it, like a Postal, but it DID come with with the bench seats on the side that you would find in the Overlander, OR a facility tour vehicle, I sold those a few years later. And his donor jeep was RHD Fo' sho'.
Moving forward on the '83 rebuild. New (1982) frame, minor repair, sand blast and then galvanized, had it dipped so galvanized inside and out. Ready to clean a few threads and then paint. Hoping the Galvanizing has the long term rust protection I expect.
My wife is the reason I am spending so much on these things, too. She asked me what car I would buy if i could buy "any car in the world". I said an '81 scrambler and she made me start looking. Finding a good wife is the only thing better than finding a good barn find.
Congrats and welcome.
When storing the radiator, should it be filled with coolant to keep it from rusting or can i just store it empty. It may be a while before it has a purpose again and i don't want to ruin it with rust from just sitting.
New frame is out of storage, media blasted and off getting galvanized. I figured this was the best way to fight michigans rustiness. The garage has been cleared and is getting ready for painting the frame. Looking forward to building UP this winter instead of just tearing down.
Frame has been media blasted and is off to be galvanized. Garage has been cleared and prep for paint. I look forward to be building up instead of tearing down.
Bought and sold (still kicking myself for this but $ was short back then) a world cab top and doors. The guy was just outside of Traverse City, Michigan. He had the rig in his driveway and made it a pretty significant rock crawler. The story was that it had been used in Toledo as a runabout...
Pulled the frame out of storage and took it to a frame shop to have it checked out. Just to see if they're pro opinion was any more critical than mine. They set me up with a guy who "does all the jeep frames that come in". He claimed it was the "cleanest CJ frame anyone has ever brought in"...
My only plans are to have a good running reliable jeep. Im not a speed or horse power guy by any means, Just want to have enough power to have fun with but not go overboard. I also know nothing about engines so if you have recommendations for a "more suitable engine to swap" I am definately...
to quote eddie murphy, "thanks, you been he'pful." Of course the other option is to rebuild the 4.2. Its not out of the question, yet. There seems to be nothing wrong with it. Also, I assume from your "nice to see this discussion from you" that you didn't think I'd get this far?
it was recommended to me that i look at Jegs for a possible new engine for my rebuild. Does anyone have any experience with this engine? What modifications would be necessary to fit with the A999 auto trans and dana 300 that i would like to reuse? I dont want to go crazy, HP wise, but want it...
Hey Masscj2a, I am glad i finally get to be the best at something.
The pictures don't really do justice to how many holes there are. at least half of each rail is missing on both sides. when i get it freed up Im gonna flip it over and post a video. When i found it, it was sitting on the...
