Our kiddo is at music camp and I really wanted to get the trailer project out for some off-the-grid camping to truly test out the solar and electrical setup.

Headed up to the Gaylord State Forest and found an old overgrown campsite with a fire pit that worked great. Perfect weather and no schedule made for some awesome wandering through the back roads to visit towns we’d always heard about. Great time and the solar kept up with the Dometic fridge and LED lights amazingly well.

The site was well shaded in most of the morning but had full sun within reach of my solar extension cord. Made sure to set the panel right at night to pick up the first sun and the battery was fully charged each morning by the time we got out of the tent!

Awesome! Sometimes a no stress weekend is needed. Just watch out for the bears though. :bacon:

Thanks, it's a great setup. Very rarely in my life has a project this complex worked out pretty much exactly as I'd hoped (I'm not that skilled) so I genuinely appreciate the compliments.

Starting a new thread on some other Postal and trailer-related news :smokin:

My M416 is all sand blasted and primed. Just waiting to fix and old Willys tailgate with a new hinge and then off to the races with my overland trailer build. I promise to steal as many of your ideas as I can. :P But that's all on hold for now. I have to finish up and early 5 project over the next few weeks so I can head to Baraga MI. to pick up my new M170. (y)

One thing you have to settle for me though, the girlfriend says those are home fries, I say its corn beef hash on the griddle. Which is it ? And would you go with the same tent again ?

You win: corned beef hash.

We absolutely love this tent. The mesh roof panels are a fantastic addition that allows you to fine tune the airflow and it's cool to just look up at the stars as you fall asleep. The size is exactly perfect for the BT3-C, it's like they were made for each other, and there's ALL KINDS of room in it. All three of us and the dog can easily sleep up there even with a couple small bags at our feet in the corner. For just the two of us and the dog, it's a palace.

There were a couple small missing bits when we unpacked it and one zipper was broken (looks like it got crushed somehow), but they sent me replacement parts right out. The cover and fabric is really stout. I'd like two more velcro cinch straps on the sides to help keep everything bundled up neatly as you go to put the travel cover on, but that's a really small nitpick that could be overcome by drilling a couple holes and using small bungees if I really wanted to have them. I also want to add some zipper pulls to make it easier to undo the zippers from the ground when deployed.

Sweet! What a great place to have to get to for picking up a new Jeep! Keep me up to date when you go to make that trek.

I will let you know when I leave. I actually have a phone now that I can use to update. I will probabaly start a thread on the trip. I am planning on leaving early morning (tentative 0200) on 8 Sept. I was told if I left in the morning, to stop at the Big Mac and nap. Was warned the deer population any higher then that , would take out my truck if I proceeded from there.

And, I knew it was hash, I could smell it through the screen. One of my all time favorites for breakfast.

Wow, that soon! Nice. Deer are rampant up there, no doubt. There’s a nice Scrambler coming up for sale up there that’s less than an hour out of your way that I know about ;)

Wonder who's ?? You will have to let me know.
