    What's on your Work Bench?

The only thing on my workbench at the moment is my 8. I tore the speedometer apart on Sunday, spun everything by hand, works fine. Didn't get to drive it again yet, as I am still tracing issues with the fuel gauge. Of course, the simple things I forget to check. 3A fuse in the block, blown. Put...

    Gladiator

As much as I like the modern bits and bobs in the Gladiator, I just can't begin to justify one. I could buy a full size, V8 powered Chevy for less. I get it, I can't have the same fun as the Jeep, but those of us that have 0 use for a 4 door truck, won't even look at a current Gladiator. I think...

    #duckduckjeep...???

I am kind of indifferent on this. I like the concept and like that it is shining a light on the Jeeps and getting people interested. However, when I was driving a bone stock 2008 JK and getting "ducked" it seemed odd to me. I do know one of the ducks came from my best friends kid next door. I...

    Dana 20 questions

Ok, I said I'd update after the first test drive, and here it goes since I was able to get the classic plates and she is all legal now. It was the perfect first test drive of the Jeep. I put 5 gallons of gas in from a fuel can into her and found out that the gas gauge needs fixed. Not sure if it...

    Dana 20 questions

Thank you for the insight and kinda helping me get it in my head to enjoy it how it is and not keep looking to make it "normal". I am going to finally get it registered on Monday, and I will be putting some gas in it and seeing how the drive really is. I have only driven it around the back yard...

    Dana 20 questions

Ok, I have still been working on getting a lot of little things fixed on the 81 I got this summer, but I am finding that there are some really messed up things that one of the previous owners did to this rig. Thankfully the front and rear axles are correct, narrow D30 and AMC 20 and the original...

    Title question

My 81 has a Florida title and it does not have a "Model" section on it. Once I get the Nevada title for it, I will see if it has anything for model. However, the manufacturer on the Florida title says American Motors. If my old ass can remember, I'll look at the title for the 84 and see what it...

    Current Scrambler pics

The galvanized 8 tub reminds me of the back of a D90 or D110, with the jump seats on either side. I do like the idea of a galvanized tub as well, wouldn't need it in the desert where I live, but up north, or in the snow areas that use the road salt, hell yeah, galvanized would be nice.

    factory seat belts?

I am pretty sure that they didn't switch to 3 point belts until 82 or 83. My 84 8 had 3 point but the 81 I just picked up has lap belts only. I am putting a 4 point setup with a harness bar from Rock Hard 4x4 and PRP harnesses myself. I am not a fan of just a lap belt.

    T150 to T5 swap

Thank you to everyone that has had some input here, I greatly appreciate it. I have been out of the Jeep community for a long time and am very happy that it is still the welcoming and helpful community I left many years ago. I am going to keep the T150 for now, as it is in there and it works. I...

    T150 to T5 swap

I should probably add a few, uh, plans. . . I am probably going to lose the 35" tires and go down to a 31" tire and am most likely going to a shorter lift. At 48, with a shite back, climbing up into this will get a little rough. However, it is going to be the DD. Reading the real world thread...

    T150 to T5 swap

The Scrambler I just got supposedly had a 4 speed manual in it, however when I received it, the location of R told me that it is not, and that it is only a 3 speed. Plus crawling under the Jeep and seeing the Dana 20 t-case told me what I needed to know, its a T150 3 speed. Not a huge deal, but...

Official CJ-8.com Forum Lurker Intro Thread!

A candid shot the wife took of the new to me Scrambler when I was getting it moved around behind the house to get some things fixed before I start driving her daily. A little miffed about the Jeep it isn't exactly what was advertised. However, there are some serious redeeming qualities. Solid...

Official CJ-8.com Forum Lurker Intro Thread!

Spent a lot of time in central PA area, between Allentown and Harrisburg. Settled in Erie for far too long, 31 years. Yeah, most of the time you would be correct, its crazy to get a NE vehicle and ship it SW. However, the Scrambler I am picking up, she is a fairly fresh restoration, so all the...

Hello all, Thought I would finally join up and introduce myself here. I am Matt, I currently am waiting for my new-to-me 1981 Scrambler to arrive from RI. I live in Las Vegas, born and raised in PA tho. Moved to NV with the wife of almost 25 years about 2 years ago. I am not new to the Jeep...
