A few points... The Garvin is an US made rack that is well known/respected in the expedition arena. The original cost difference new between models is not much different. The PIAA lights add value if they are of use to you. The JLU rack length is closer to the CJ8, however any of them will...

This is a pic from Matt Donaghy's (founder of cj-8.com) frame swap. He may have some input on how much farther the bumper is off between the two.

I guess the straw through the lid would be considered "open container" :shrug:

Hope to use this when I get back to mine. The part number for '81- '82 battery tray is different than the '83-'86, not sure if it will matter much.

Yeah there are several other videos on modifying with a grinder, I just linked this one as it showed how to remove the bracket to modify on a bench. I like the idea of practicing on a junkyard bracket :cheers: Have fun at Sandblast, the gear change should make a big difference.

Not sure if this pertains to your situation but this video shows how to remove the brackets from the block and clearance for the alternator to fit. Seems to be a common issue. :shrug:

@rubclt Amazing trip. How was the performance power wise on and off the trails? (Thoughts on tire size, gearing, engine overall on the trip)

This is the measurement for the windshield to get a starting point for adjusting the doors and top positioning.

Yeah the original one on yours looks more like the OEM '87-'93 timing chain. Will be interesting to see the difference in the slack between old and new.

Have you been able to confirm the build date of the original engine? I'm not sure it is totally relevant anymore since it's been rebuilt.
