    Beryl

Here are some random shots from my neighborhood. (This is not the worst, there are some yards that are covered in downed trees, these are ones that spotlighted the power of the storm) We used to have a large oak tree in the middle of the road that is now gone. That is not the stump...

    Beryl

Whew, it been a heck of a week in Houston. I’ve lived through many Tropical Depressions, Tropical Storms, and Hurricanes. Beryl ranks right up there with some of the more destructive ones I’ve personally experienced. I would say only Alecia in the early 80’s was worse. I have been EXTREMELY...

    Holley Sniper 2BBL issues

Check your fuel pressure. I have the same issue when the fuel pressure is under 40 psi. You can use the laptop software and tune the fuel enrichment under hot cranking if you find you have too much or too little primer fuel. But I don’t think it can be adjusted via the handheld.

    CJ8 Restoration Books

I have not seen any scrambler dedicated books. There are a few CJ dedicated books, but they are more focused on the early CJ 60’s - 70’s). Like mentioned above, this site is a wealth of knowledge. If you can’t find something via the search function, members here are quick to help. And, welcome!

    Craigslist and Estate Sale finds!

I am looking for that 5th as a spare. If they were closer I’d be all over it and split them up for the singles to others.

New to CJ-8 World - Looking for Engine Replacement Recomendations

If you are looking for resale value, bone stock is the best value. Any engine swap will cost more than the value it adds to the vehicle (resell value, not enjoyment value). For those that do engine swaps, it is done to make the vehicle better for the owner’s enjoyment. So, the first decision...

Anyone replaced hard top door skins?

I have a feeling Dan is talking about the side skins, not door skins. (Metal by the door openings) Classic does sell the lower portion of the door outer skin, but not a complete new skin. If the door is that bad, the inner structure is probably toast, and you would be better off finding new doors.

I have considered retrofitting a set of RSE steps to a scrambler, just have not made it to that point on my project. https://rockslideengineering.com/product/jk-2-door-step-slider-bundle/

    Current Scrambler pics

Totally agree. Got a ‘23 for daily driver. The scrambler(s) don’t get out near enough though.

    Exhaust systems

Last one I did was custom bent at a muffler shop. These engines don’t need much air, so a cheap exhaust is good enough.

    Spankrjs 1986 "Ploy-Boy" CJ-7

I won’t even do it for fences. I’m in construction, so I would be ashamed of myself if I ever used dry concrete.

All the YouTube videos claim you wasted your time, dry pouring is just as strong. 🤣

Value of 1983 4.2L engine complete (and running)

You will get more if it is still in the vehicle and buyer can witness it running. After it is pulled, I would guess $500 is optimistic. The 4.2 is not that rare of an engine. Heck, I have 4 sitting in my barn from casual buys. I was not looking for them, but they were thrown in with the other...
