Boomer's Better Late Than Never Build

Boomer, she's looking good, so far. Looking forward to the build, especially the LS swap. I just went through a 2 year restoration on my '85 Scrambler but without an engine swap. Another year or two of driving it with the 258 will probably give me the motivation to do the swap. Maybe, not...

    What's on your Work Bench?

I'm always interested when an AR barrel and armorers wrench are sitting amongst some prized CJ pieces. What's up with the AR stuff, if I may ask?

I remember the gas wars well. Mom would load us up in the Coupe de Ville and head for the gas station. We lived in Las Vegas at the time and our favorite filling station was one of four at the same intersection. It seemed like those four stations were competing with each other and once one...

    Half cab install issue

Double check your door adjustments. Although it may just be the angle of the photo, the driver's side appears to be hanging pretty low. The down side is that all of the adjustments begin with the doors and go to the windshield followed by the bulkhead followed by the top. When I reinstalled...

    Current Scrambler pics

Once again, a bit of Googling found them. Didn't realize Metalcloak was the brand name.

    Current Scrambler pics

I've seen lighted license plate frames. Some with surround led lights as well as some with just a strip of lights above the plate. Also, what is the brand of the cloak lights? Those look sharp.

    Craigslist and Estate Sale finds!

Never mind. Quick Google search and voila, these are still being made by Rampage.

    Craigslist and Estate Sale finds!

What a great catch. Ingenious jerry jug replacement. Never realized these were even made. Out of curiosity, what is the brand on that tool can?

    Recovery ring / snatch block

Look at the Yankum Ropes ring, instead. It has an offset center hole which allows for a much smoother path for the winch line. The offset stops the rotation of the ring, which reduces the wear on the soft shackle. Much better, in my opinion.

CJ8 Dana 30 Bearings and Seals

I'm curious, Bobs Dog, what is the difference between a Jeep Bankruptcy Starter Kit and a Jeep Divorce Starter Kit? Overall, I'm not sure which, in the long run, would be more advantageous. Good luck, amigo. You're going to absolutely love the journey.

    Son of a Scrambler Man

Sorry for your loss, Jake. I always enjoyed conversations with your dad. Although I am not looking for a project at this moment, I would love to see some pictures of the Scrambler. My son, a Lockheed research engineer, is looking for something to work on. Best part is, he is in Dallas and...

Another Scrambler Purchase/Road Trip - UPDATE- BODY ON FRAME AGAIN

Brother, that is one hearty pedestrian to bend those shock studs. LMAO. Looks good, amigo.

Try eastcoastvinylwerkz.com. I had them make a set of vinyl scrambler decals to my specs which, surprisingly, look exactly like what you are looking for. Use my name (Mike Dye) if you wish and they will make you a set. Very reasonably priced, as well. Good luck, amigo.

    Clutch Travel and Stiff Pedal

Take a close look at the linkage from the pedal on down. Several pivots with high wear possible. Mine, at 130,000 miles, were worn almost to failure. I installed rod end bearings at all of the pivots and now everything works perfectly. Good luck.

Hello, again. Get me a good address, either text or email, and I'll send the pictures. Later, amigo.

I am in search of a good used body pannel

I've got both sides on my old tub. However, the upper half, where the windshield hinge attaches, is a bit rusty. The recess on the right side is in good shape. I can send pics tomorrow if you need them. Let me know.

    Repli-tub deficiencies

My resto is almost done and I'm proud of the before and after. However, I never planned on taking a year to complete this job. No big deal, it's been a real eye-opener. I'm fortunate to have all of the tools necessary to do the build as well as a background as an aeronautical engineer...

    Repli-tub deficiencies

Yes and no. When I bought my current Scrambler, it was a rust bucket. Most of the rust was hidden by disgusting amounts of bed liner. That being said, the cowl/firewall/A pillar area is in great condition. So, my long-term plan is to completely rebuild the old tub while driving the MD tub...

    Repli-tub deficiencies

Hello, all. I took delivery of my MD tub 11 months ago and, initially, was impressed. However, I am in the final phases of my restoration and wish I had gone a different direction. The firewall was the only piece of the old tub worth keeping. I will, upon completion of my Scrambler, purchase...

Revolution Electronics - Intermittent Wiper module?
