I love the pix and updates Polar!! That slate top looks soooooooo familiar!!!!!! That was the first of 5 1/2 tops I had. I had Slate (yours), White (Joe West has it now) Black, Nutmeg, Levis Denim blue.

I just scored a set of NOS ACME hard doors, unmolested and undrilled. I have to scrounge up latches and windows and have found the supplier for the latches so far. Does anyone know if the ACME slider is the same for the CJ5 as the CJ7? If so I have found a supplier for windows. If not, does...

The uppers on here are Bull-Dawgs and they fit my soft top. That way I have the option of full hard doors in the winter and half-doors for summer.

Thanks.....It's been worth it....except changing my mind on the interior color scheme! But I am stoked on how it turned out.

I used the covering from a CJ-7 kit. I couldn't get the padding on underneath. Will try this summer on a hot day an warm everything up. My guess is that the CJ-8 rollbar has a wider diameter? I may be crazy, but I've put a similar kit on a past CJ-7 I had with no problem.

Winter doors and soft top..... Have nice options for full hard or half sliders for winter, and some a quick adjustment to make my brake lights legal with add on side lights.

The interior...... I always wanted a green jeep with a spice interior....

The heart.... Power plant. Used a Weber carb and HEI distributor and got rid of the computer and 90 percent of the vacuum lines. Was able to use a charcoal canister from a YJ to get the fume recovery functional.

Rebuilding and assembling.... Heater core and ducting rebuild and front clip assembly.....

Starting with a good foundation.... Chassis is back from blasting and coating, engine, drive-line and tub go on....

I just got indoor/outdoor kit for my ride from Morris 4x4. It's a pretty nice kit and complete. There is another one that is more carpet like, as you were describing. Kits are made by Seatz. http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-carpets/cj8-index.htm Hope that helps.

That top is from 1981 the first year of production because there are no zippers on the back to go around the seat belt mounts on the roll bar. They stated putting shoulder belts in CJ's in 1982. IMy first Jeep was an 81' Cj-7 and they still were using lap belts. I sold Polarfire his slate blue...
