1981 RHD Scrambler build (UK spec)

This afternoon and the odd late night in the garage are meaning i have a dashboard and a tailgate that have been filled, rubbed down and coated in primer:woohoo:

The MD Juan windscreen frame and the fenders are next in line :fingerscrossed:

After a San Miguel to steady the nerves, i cut out the door latches so i can now shut and latch the doors, also found that the inner part wants welding to the outer skin as its a bit bendy with the weight of the door on it.
All the dust is from filling my RHD conversion plates and just flatting the floor where the MD Juan grinders had been a bit too vigorous.
The passenger door needed quite a bit of spacing behind the door striker to latch properly, not sure of the reason at the moment as the door on that side fits better than the opposite side:confused:

Hi Dave ,

So what's the overall verdict so far?

Did everything fit?

And where do you get your San Miguel beer? ( I should've sent some with the tub)

I think its going to turn out okay this tub of yours,I am fairly certain i can make everything fit.

As pointed out earlier in the thread the main issue which was really annoying was that wheel arch being welded in back to front which was a pain to swap round but its done now.
There are bits and pieces i have had to cut off the old tub, like the rear seat front mounts and the cable clips under the door entry, but they are minor things to me and not really a problem.

Ill get some more pics up when the primer and underseal go on and it may start to look like a proper tub then.

Oh and that San Miguel company must have breweries worldwide, just do not drink any before going on Ebay!!!

I also had that problem, but unfortunately I didn't find it until it was painted.

Again same issue on my tub, no sure why as well.

Good looking build by the way!

Ive had the heater box sat about since rebuilding it (still with some blue overspray inside) but before i scrap the old tub i thought id better take a look and see how it mounts to it to compare with my guesswork holes in the MD Juan one.
On a slight lean to one side was the answer! presume the LHD ones slant the other way or it was an experimental drilling session by Jeep on mine.

Tonights quiz.

Where does this belong? I thought it was part of the floor shifter mechanism but it appears not so now im not even sure if it belongs on the Scrambler at all. Anyone know?

It looked like a automatic linkage but cant find my pictures to confirm it..

That would be my guess too... I don't have anything that looks like that on my RHD, and it is a manual, so the theory so far is still valid.

E-brake mechanism was another thought, but I don't think so.

I have the automatic linkage for the kickdown, this is a far beefier bit of unknown origin.
I will leave it off for now and see what doesn't work properly at the end:D

yea I just checked my auto linkage and kickdown on the 258 999 and its nothing like what you have.. It did look like the one in the picture I posted before..

heres one of mine.. the part I though it was is actually a very thin and kinda wire looking linkage .. its way on the bottom of the picture I posted

Thanks for looking anyway, it will either become surplus to requirements or obvious at some point i am sure......

Body tub has made it to the painters so i thought id try and sort some other stuff out starting with the clock which just clicked when i tried it and then that was it.
So one strip down a lot of prodding to find out how it worked and bingo i have a working clock

Did AMC have different colour surrounds depending on the body colour?
My clock has blue inside to presumably give a blue light when illuminated and everything else in the Jeep seems to be blue inspired....

If your talking about the blue filter that the bulb eliminates threw then there all blue.here is a blue speed filter glass I took a picture of .I never took my clock apart so I dont have a picture .

So even if you bought a garnet Jeep you got blue illumination in your dashboard, that is brilliant:D
