I've recently picked up a very nice all original 1984 Scrambler Laredo painted in the rare Nordic green. This Scrambler has definitely seen its better days.
The exterior is a bit weathered and faded.

From what I hear this Jeep used to be quite the show piece and featured at many of the Nation Jeep shows back in the day.

It is still in superb condition just needs a little love. I was lucky enough to get the original window sticker as well. It was about 13,6xx
When new. Don't have the sticker in front of me

I intend on keeping most of the original parts on the jeep as long as they are functional. I will check with my buddy Wayne Carini or JJ along the way to validate and document and necessary changes.

Planing a frame on restoration and clean up. Buff out the paint, change all fluids, make sure all accessories and options work correctly, etc.

I'm sure that original paint will come back to life with a little love. Where is Bobbysjeep? He has the magic touch!

No doubt your starting off with better "bones". I think you will be amazed on how well it will come back. Just take your time, buy different levels of polishing compound and polishing pads.

Thanks Bobby. I'll probably follow your thread when I start the paint resto. My biggest problem is the hood and there's many places where it's down to bare metal so I'm not sure what to do at that point but will cross that bridge when I get there.

I hand buffed a few small spots yesterday because I could not take it anymore and was very excited when I could see my reflection in the paint from just a quick wax job.

This jeep will look amazing when finished. No doubt about that.

Jeep addict you should come by and visit while I'm doing my pre paint prep work. We might both learn something.

Started to remove parts from the Scrambler. I'm going to get as much access to the original paint as possible. Buff it and put it back together. I'm trying to get it in a show this weekend. Here's a few pictures from today.

You going to pull hinges and and rollbar and paint underneath? Just curious as to whether or not most of you collector types are doing that with these original Jeeps.

Not at this point. I will probably pull the roll bar eventually but by the looks of everything else I'm thinking under the roll bar will be fine. Later on I'll pull the rear bumper, hard top, etc to get a little more detailed. The hard top looks to have never been removed before. At least all of the factory seals are in place for the hard top.
