Got home about 5 pm tonight after hitting the great Willys picnic , a Sunday show on the way home. Mark (from www.jeeptruck.com) and I together did 862 miles in the M715 since Thursday at 10am. We drove through pouring rain 3 times, lost a wiper, headlights and the signals all at once, but all in all had zero mechanical issues. Met lots of new and old friends and it was great to get back to Bantam.

I was supposed to be home by now and I haven't even left yet! Been working on the XJ. I've flushed the cooling system twice, replaced the thermostat, checked that both fans work, and bypassed the heater core. Only things left is to get a new radiator cap (should have done that when I got the thermostat) and replace the water pump. Going to bed now and will hit the parts store first thing in the morning. At least I have a well equipped shop to work in!

Yep a little bit of corrosion there. Just a little. Such a relief when you find the problem !!

All of the pictures Mark and I took of the Bantam show will be posted on his site soon and I'll share the link. Here we are coming into the Great Willys Picnic. Over 80 pre - 1970 jeeps were there alone, making it an unreal show and a first time event for me. For those who want to look it up next year, check out http://www.cj3a.info/picnic/ The show is always on a Sunday so it makes attendance at other events possible

How early did you have to register for the show? I tried and I was told it was full, but the parade was open.

karl

Sorry Karl, I just read this, not sure how I missed it. I'm not sure when the registration closed. I didn't register because I knew I was going to be in one of John's Jeeps and he had it all taken care of. Maybe Eric can answer for you.

So what members brought home the hardware and for what?
John Hollibaugh (aka: Red Honcho) brought home 3 trophies (2 firsts and 1 second) and another friend also won for his modified CJ-5. I also met a new Scrambler owner who has only had it since Easter and also took home a trophy in his class. He was very excited and very eager to learn more about his Scrambler. I told him about the forum and he said he would check it out. We also broke the Gueniss Record for the largest Jeep parade with over 2400 Jeeps!

I also met a guy named Jim (cu4whln) from ifsja.org. Jim is a senior engineer with Jeep and is working on his personal '77 Cherokee project. He and I did some parts swapping and he drove the EXTREMELY AWESOME Willys Wagon on an LJ chassis down from Detroit! This is one of my all-time favorite Jeep show vehicles and I was excited to see it first hand.

Great pics.
Really dig the patina of the Willys utility wagon !!!

Jim Repp is one of the fathers of the Rubicon package. His CJ-7 with 4:1 kit was driven by the bean counters and showed them first hand how much better a Jeep handles with crawling gears and lockers. Super nice guy.

Did you meet Duncan & Kim ? BRC80 & Bantam restorer. Kim truly loves Jeeps as much as we do.

Which forum members were at John's pre-party ?
I started to come...but just getting back to normal after 9 days with Jeep Heritage guys.
