81 cj8

Cool. If anyone else has tried this I'm curious to know if it will prevent the wheel rub and how much wider if any it will make the stance. If anyone has tried this and it works, please also mention your tire size you have mounted.

I am also interested in this

One more thing. I think the OP is running steelies that appear to have no dish. Maybe different from what you running.

Correct, I am running "steelies" (I assume that describes my tires) Is it true that OEM rims would widen the stance and help or prevent the rub? I should not be rubbing, as the tire are 10.5

I'm going to revive this as I have another question about the differences in 81. My question is how hard is it to put in a three point shoulder harness? Do I just have to drill a hole in the hard stop and get the rubber gasket and 3 point belt, or is the roll bar &/or hard top different too?

The roll bar has a different angle. The ones with the seat belt mount don't lean away from the top. Others on this forum have converted, so a search should get you some good results, but I don't know if those guys were using a half cab. By the way, I understand that the glass on the earlier half cabs were bigger. They made room for the seat belt holes in the later tops. Not saying it can't be done but it might be easier to find the roll bar and top from a later model.

There is a pretty recent thread about drilling the holes in the top.
