Aftermarket hood???

I'm trying to figure this one out. I just got a used hood from a guy locally. It was off of a Renegade. The decals definitely look original, the gauge of the metal is the same as original, and it physically fit great. However it didn't have the little hoops for the windshield to fold down on. It wasn't even drilled for them. Did factory hoods ever come this way is this thing a really old aftermarket hood?

I would say all OEM hoods were drilled for them. That’s what the windshield rests on and ties down to when laid down.

Any chance that someone repainted/restickered it after welding those up?

There has actually been a few original hoods without them. Seen on original Jeeps. Not sure why but I know some got through like that.

thats right...no one knows why...but some 1983s left that way.

That hood came off my brother's jeep and it was a 1983 CJ7 Renegade!

Very interesting. I definitely have never heard of or seen this before. But honestly, when it comes to AMC stuff it just doesn't surprise me anymore. They really did do some goofy things.
