Automatic transmission mount issue

Hey, all. It's been a while since I have posted. Sorry for that, economics prevail. Anyway, I am putting my "Bessie" back together and have a question about the transmission mount for the automatic TF999 on my Jeep. My Jeep has the large OEM skid pan mounted on it. There is a 2-bolt main mount that bolts up pretty much as one would expect between the skid pan and the tranny. There is also and a secondary mount off to the driver's side that consists of a single standoff that bolts rigid to the skid pan and has rubber bushings that mount to the transmission bracket. When I started the restoration, the rubber on this part was badly deteriorated. I bought replacement parts but there seems to be a problem. When I tighten up the two bolts on the main mount, the secondary mount has about 3/16" play in it...it almost looks like one of the rubber bushings is too short. Does someone have a good picture of their mounting setup or a link to a good illustration. I can post I pic if my description is too vague. Thanks for any help, I am finally putting more parts back on my Jeep than I am removing...rounding the corner, I hope.

Sincerely,
Mark

The torque stud is supposed to have that play in it to allow for some movement. There are more pieces to the trans mount than you're describing, though. There's the piece that looks like bent flat steel in the shape of an up-side down "W"....sort of.

Thanks. Mine has the "W" shaped part you refer to...it is what the main tranny mount is attached to. It has two bolts connecting it to the tranny/transfer case. My main concern was with the single mount that is located to the driver's side of it (a few inches from the main mount). I have 3 nuts visible from under the skid pan, 2 go to the main mount and the third is to this secondary mount. The bushings for this third one seem to have a lot of play for some reason. If they are supposed to be that way then ok, but it seems odd. I will try to post a pic later this week. Thanks for any help.

Sincerely,
Mark

Pic of tranny mount slop

Hi again. Here is a photo of the secondary transmission mount. The bushing I am using came with a rebush kit. It doesn't look correct to me. Any insight or help would be appreciated. If I didn't upload it correctly, sorry, please let me know. Thanks.

Oh

In the photo, the far lower part shows the studs for the main tranny mount that attach to the skid pan. The top part of the far part of the image shows the "W" shaped bracket that attaches to the bottom of the transmission tail. The bottom of the near of photo shows the stud that attaches to the skid pan. About an inch above my thumb is a shoulder on this stud that bottom out against the top (inside) part of the skid pan. Thanks again.

Anyone??? Is this OK?

Hey, anyone know if this is correct or not?

Thanks,
Mark

Found it.

For anyone else who may have this issue question in the future, the picture I have does seem correct. I found two pictures of other peoples' setups and the vertical play is the same in theirs too.

Sincerely,
Mark
