Captured Square Nuts in Rear Floor

I replaced the rear floor pan some time ago and just went back to prep for a fold&tumble seat from a late Laredo. The bracing from Classic is not in the same locations as the factory floor pan, which won’t really matter as the seat is a custom install and I’m using weld nuts and 1/8” steel strips to reinforce.

Anyway, what are the two square nuts enclosed in the bed metal? Are these for factory seats, and if so, I plan to weld them in place so they don’t jiggle around and add to the noises. Thanks!

That captured nut is for a body mount.

I used a Classic rear floor pan in my red Scrambler, purchased and installed over 10 years ago. One of the support channels was welded in the wrong location, came that way from Classic. I ended up using some steel plate to bridge between two of the floor cross members and installed the body mount to the plate.

I told Classic about this error, never heard a word back from them.

I had a moment of clarity on the way to pick up the kids after putting the tools down, and realized those were probably the inner mounts near the gas tank. Kicking myself for not checking everything once the old panel was cut out, so considering options, even cutting the spot welds from the original panel and repurposing.

Spankrjs - thank you for responding and sending me your link. Ugh, I just want to be done with sheet metal welding.

Update - Classic made it right by immediately shipping a new crossmember support and extra captured nuts for free. I wish I had caught this much earlier, but am now pulling out the brace that was there when the entire floor shipped.

It seems that the middle and rear supports were swapped and the measurements were also off, fortunately only the rear will make a difference. I will let Classic know, and thankfully I kept the old rusty and bent pan before tossing in a dumpster.

Removal of incorrect brace and first fit last night. Next will be mating the body to frame for final fit before welding prep. Eventually I’ll be done with sheet metal . . .
