CJ-8 Frame/ Body mount dimensions

How did you get the frame pieces straight???

The area I picked to lengthen it was in the flat and straight section. Cut as square as I could. Then I used a two metal levels as a straight edge for the X and Y plain and two large clamps to align the two joints as I tacted it. I checked several views top and side and for rotation. Only when I was happy with it did it get the full weld. The round welds you see on the side section are for the length of 2x4 tube inside to re inforce it. It is very strong. I would trust it driving down the interstate at any speed. I did one side at a time and used a Hi Lift jack to push/pull the final fitment. I used several straight pipes going through the main eye mounts and along the cross members to site check for parallel aligment down the length of the frame (viwed from the front or rear). I pulled a tape measure diagonally from front to rear and was only off about 1/8 of an inch...I can live with that for a garage build.

Oh, lucky, and sounds like a good build. I'd trust it. I have the misfortune of having to splice two pieces at the rear axle hump in the middle of the last bend at the back.

insurance would pay my shop about 300 bucks to get rid of an 1/8 inch diamond in a frame. :p

Hey guys Im new on here, and Ive been reading what your doing with the scrambler build
Im doing the same thing with a cj 7 well 2 cj7 frames. but like a fool I cut my frame before
taking any measurements, thinking I would get a new frame. Your right the dimentions on the internet dont match up with my old frame. I've called Jeremy at Throttle Down Kustoms
to see if he could help me on some measurements. If I get something I will let you know
what ever I get.

If it helps, I used a constant and pull as many measurments for that one location as I could to stay consistant. In my case I used the bolt hole in the front most tub mount and pulled to the exact center of each mount going down the frame. Cross checking it against others and comparing it to the other side and other frame holes where you can. I still have a non wrecked and straight OEM 8 frame that I can pull measurements from if needed. Tell me what you need. I can give to the nearest 16th"
