Based on the mounting tabs from the one one eBay I'd guess it's for a Wrangler. Not sure why the light tabs are different on mine though.

I haven't had a YJ version, but based on the picture, it looks like the brackets on the guard itself may be different, too. Every guard I've had has had the "slotted" holes for the mount point. It appears in this photo that the YJ version may have only "drilled holes"?

Which would put mysunnyshine's in the YJ category. Perhaps the late 1986 models lacked slots, too?

And judging by the other things you put up, Errik, are you thinking it may have been an OEM piece off that 85?

I believe so..... You need to stop by so I can test fit this thing on yours- ;)


So I'd still guess it's a CJ guard but probably not the "earlier" version because of the larger winged light attachment plates and not the smaller tabs.....

"Up for sale are four (4) OEM CJ-7 15x7 wheels, in great condition for 31 years old. These came of a restored CJ7 Laredo show jeep that will be getting larger rims to accommodate much larger tires. The good news for Jeep enthusiasts is that they will be available for someone who wants the original, factory look.

All of the wheels are straight, and not bowed or bent. These look phenomenal on a CJ.

There are some very minor imperfections on them including a couple of tiny scratches and very small amount of surface rust, which can be expected on most wheels. In addition there is a small amount of the original clear coat still on the wheels, which, in addition to the rust, can be removed with a can of Premium Stripper which can be purchased at WalMart, and runs about $9-10 per can.

Shipping will be via USPS, payment is via PayPal and there are no returns accepted. If you would like, these can be picked up in person. "
 
Lot of things "can be removed with a can of Premium Stripper" like paychecks, dignity, etc.
