EJS 2016

It is running now, working feverishly to get the finishing touches done to make it ready and give it a shakedown run or two by EJS.

Awesome, you are more than welcome to join us.

We are signed up to run Metal Masher with EJS on Monday.

Tuesday I think we are doing the Crawl Readers Ride at Area BFE.

All the other days we plan to run trails on our own that are off days for EJS.

Serveral of us are staying in Condo's out near the Spanish Trail Arena.

My family will be in Saturday morning March 19 and depart the following Saturday.

I'll PM you my #.

you dont have to register if you want to run stuff solo but you wont have the Safari support or leaders and on days that a trail is being used by the Safari you wont be able to use it. There are tons though that the Safari doesnt use and it only uses the more well known roads a few times during the week so there are options every day.

There are only certain trails to which the Safari has been granted exclusive use on certain days. On other trails, private parties are allowed even if there is a Safari group on the trail that day. I haven't yet seen a link posted for the 144-page Safari newspaper. Here it is:

https://www.rr4w.com/online-mag.cfm

There is a complete trail schedule somewhere in the mag.

As for meeting places that someone asked about, lots of groups have used the City Market parking lot through the years. This year, however, there is a large new area at the corner of Hwy 128 and 191. I believe they are calling it the Lions Park Hub. The lot on the southeast corner was opened awhile back. They are putting the finishing touches on the huge area on the northeast corner and I assume it will be opened within a week or two. It looks finished to me...but there are still signs across the entrance that say "area closed."

I don't think I can do the trails you're running, but maybe we can have get together in the evenings?

Great thread, hope to run into some of you while I'm out there. I have a crew of 6 Jeeps and a Razr coming along. 3 JKs (one is a built 6.4L AEV), 2 TJs and my Scrambler. We have a condo this year, decided to step up the accommodations from previous tenting years since we're not only getting older, but it's the 50th and we wanted to be comfy :D

We are coming from WI/MN area, so a LONG drive, and a buddy of mine is bringing a film crew friend of his to take some HD footage along the way, with stops in CO for sure...I'm talking $big money$ equipment, documenting the debauchery - LOL! We can't wait!

Below is a link to what the Red Rock guys have reserved for their runs...we don't do them, we plan around them. We prefer to run our own trails on our own time. Avoid the clusters that happen w/ large groups. Anyone wanting to hook up and get together for a run other than one of the planned events is more than welcome to reach out to me, shoot me an email or PM me, I don't come on here too often but I'll try and stay on it through EJS: cobound@hotmail.com is the best way to reach me.

I print that out and put it in my Jeep for reference...so when we do a spur of the moment run we know what to avoid.

I have several guys I meet out there every year as well, so if not a trail I've run in the past and familiar with, the guys I roll with usually are. I don't pretend to be a trail guide, but we've hit many of the staples in the past 10 years and would be happy to have some new to the group peeps along for the fun! If nothing else, seeing you at Potato Salad Hill or the like would be just as entertaining a time as any!

Hope to see some of you out there, meet some like minds! Look for the orange flat fender on your jaunts about!

Jeep is having a Vintage Jeep Photo Shoot on Wednesday the 23rd...from 7 a.m. to about noon at Baby Lions Back which is just past the Sand Flats entrance booth. Here is a blurb from the "Vintage Jeep Photo Shoot" facebook page:

"Being that this is the 75th anniversary of the Jeep brand, the folks at the Jeep social media are wanting to get pictures of numerous different Jeeps from the early years. Anyone who owns a Jeep made prior to 1995 is welcome to attend. We would prefer to have as many Jeeps from the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s as possible. 80s and early 90s Jeep are okay, but we would prefer older. All Jeep models are welcome, as long as they are pre 95.

This is kind of an open house style of event. You do not have to be there right at the beginning, and definitely no one will need to stay the whole time. Just come when you can, they will get what pictures of your vehicles that they want, then you can leave."

At this point, I don't plan on driving the Scrambler to town for this...but might change my mind. I will, however, be in town Friday, out at the vendor display, and also at Jeep's usual display of the concept vehicles...and will be working traffic control with the Moab PD Saturday morning. I'm not sure where the Jeep display will be this year since there is a monstrous and ugly hotel (complete with Moab's first underground parking garage) going up on the site where it has been for the past couple of years.

Say hi if you see me.

Made it. Been a long two days. Still more to sort on the new suspension. Parts coming Sunday. But I'm here, 1600 miles later and two nights sleep in the passenger seat. Not complaining though :bacon:

Woohoo!! Great job BW! I've been following on Facebook. So jealous!!

As for the Jeep factory concepts, I absolutely love that they are fully functional and actually take them out on the trails and they continue to bring the older ones out too!

Also, are you going to the "Vintage Jeep Photo Shoot"? I heard that Jeep Corporate is asking anyone with older Jeeps (pre-'95) to bring them to a designated location on the 23rd for photos. I bet you would have the only Alaskan Postal! I'd be curious to see if the actual Jeep people even know what it is!!

I went by the Jeep folks' hotel this morning and a bunch of them were outside as I drove by. One of them knew exactly what it was.

I found where they have the concept Jeeps stashed. Debating about pics for fear of getting on their bad side as you may be able to figure it out from the pics.

Damn, BW...your pictures make me wanna drive to town. I've seen some pretty nice Jeeps in the past week....and I've only been to town twice....once to hit NAPA. But I plan to spend the next few days spiffin' up the 8. I'll watch for you.

ThisImageUploadedByTapatalk1458388232.471108.jpgis when a camera (read phone) needs to be able to take photos in both directions at the same time cause I reckon the face on the guy that took it would be one of the biggest [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3][emoji3][emoji3]ever.
You guys have it all!
I'm so envious

We rolled in late last night.

Wow has Moab grown since I was at 35th EJS 15 years ago.

Headed out for zip line today & Top of World trail in am.

Yes it has. Moab was a sleepy little mining town when I moved here 42 years ago. I could spend all day in Arches and not see a single other person besides a park ranger. The only place you could buy groceries (or anything, for that matter) after 6 p.m. was a tiny market (much smaller than the average house) on Walnut Lane. I had a shop on Main Street in 1977 and remember the Big Saturday Safari line-up that year. There wasn't even any need for extra traffic control. Wait until you see it this Saturday morning. Wave/honk if you see my blue Scrambler with the white half cab. I'll be helping with traffic control.
