Engine is bucking and sputtering

When driving in any gear my jeep bucks and sputters like it is running out of gas and it sometimes backfires. I revved the engine in neutral thinking it might be a clogged fuel line but when in neutral it doesn't buck or sputter. I took it into my local shop and of course it ran fine for them. They said it might cam sensor...

I'd be happy to hear any suggestions or diagnosis

Poor Fuel Quality:

If you haven't driven it recently, check your fuel. Although, I suppose even if you have driven it recently, still check your fuel. I've had it happen twice to my low mile Jeep and it was bad fuel each time. A simple run down to your most trusted fuel center and fueling up with good/new fuel may immediately alleviate your problems.

I hope that helps, because the first time my Jeep started "bucking", I wasted a couple hours diagnosing all but the fuel until a neighbor came by and asked how old was my fuel. Ethenol is good for farmers, but bad for your vehicle!

Check for arching plug wires and check your plugs. I just had the same issue. One wire too close to exhaust, melted. This caused 1 plug to Ashe bad so even after fixing the wire it still did not want to run, backfired, etc.
 
And no one asked what engine we are talking about. Cam sensor mean it's a 4.0 or was the shop that clueless?

Hope was the gas or it's otherwise fixed!
