Hi everybody, I have a 1985 CJ 8, 258 6 cylinder
So today I washed the engine off today and this relay began smoking. Does any one know what this relay is and why it cooked its connector? Where can I find a new connector?

With a power on signal from the oil pressure relay or something, right?

Can't remember for sure, but that sounds correct. If oil pressure is present, temp is below 160, the relay allows power to flow to the heater. The heater has its own CTS in the intake.

I have a follow up question.
Should the large red power wire be hot with the ignition off?
Also I am unfamiliar with the heater CTS in the intake. Can someone fill me in on that?

Here is a link that may answer the question for you:

The link has a lot of helpful information for almost anything under the hood (hence the title :) )
Checkout the "Table of Contents" at the bottom of page.

You should be able to get that connector at just about any parts place; it's just a regular Bosch relay connector.
