Epic fails

Well.... It only makes sense that if you are going to use metal shavings to put racing stripes around all the bearing journals on your crank, that you use shavings FROM the crank. Right??

Am I seeing right, they notched out a header tube to run the spark plug wire boot? Man that would be a lot of work.

Here's what you get after the stereo guy installs his parts. Grrrrr.

That's exactly what my H1 looks like under the dog house. It almost scared me to death the first time I opened it.
Now there are some pins and another hood under that mess before you can get to the rear half of the engine.
It makes working on a Jeep seem like a walk in the park.

I can't believe it. The perfect shifter for my Stump Jumper build was sitting right under my nose all the time.

This happened standing still right there in the tent just like that, I wonder if it woke up the neighbors...

I have said for years the mutant tire uprising is coming... X-Men style right there... Wolverine-ish Tirerine

And this is why I'm always on you all about timing and especially if you have a stroker crankshaft. This engine had right at 300 miles on it and the detonation killed it. It broke four of the piston ring landscaping and hammered out the rod bearings.

Ok Dennis so no one else has asked so I will now that you've declared the speed at which the fail occurred. Didn't you see at some point on the way to 60mph (100ks in my money) that the damned thing wasn't latched?

Obviously not. I bet I'll be looking from now on. That's going to turn out to be about a $650.00 ah chit. It could have been worse, I didn't hit the ditch or someone else.

I also did that. Some kids unlatched the hood and I didn'the have the safety catch thing installed (previous owner had it removed, this being a fiberglass hood). Cracked the windshield and scuffed the paint on the hood. Popped up just after getting on the freeway (one of those cloverleaf entrance ramps where I also spun the jeep at, a different story for another time). Nearly scared the shi* out of me. Needless to say safeta catch is installed.

I did that back in the mid 90's on mine. Same as Dennis. Got up to about 50-55 and saw it jump. I slammed on the brakes and didn't get it quite as bad as his Scrambler hood, but it still left a nice dent in the hood.

Here's what happens when you induce a massive oil leak and the engine is run without any oil. Knock knock window. :(
