its.... different.?.
Yeah, I know what you mean as a shop rate for welding but its a little different with this. The military has these shops set up for our use and its sponsored by the MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recriation) for soldiers to save money by working on their own cars. A flat bay with no lift is 2 bucks an hour, with a lift is 3. The problem I have is that I'm getting charged for welding when most of what I'm doing in there is either thinking or working on the other parts just so I can weld them together. I know I sound like a cheap @$$ but spending an entire day there will cost about 50 bucks. do this a couple times a week and it adds up fast. So the logical response is that our hobby is expensive... sure, got that. But my difficulty is that its kind of a screwed up deal. We are not allowed to work on stuff unless we are in a bay. And the facility here is small and always packed so there is a waiting list. So there isn't really any way for me to prefit or set up so i can just go in and rent the welding bay, burn in what needs it and roll out... I have to be in there to do all the grinding and fitment etc...Gets kinda expensive when your having to lay out all your stuff, get what you can done, pack it all up, clean up the bay afterwards, etc...
Ok... enough whining...
At least I have access and CAN do stuff.
As to that dune buggy... yeah, unusual looking isn't it? Doesn't look like one of the old Manx/VW kits... kinda wonder what it is.
I'm gonna try and look up the company and see about availability. The OBI store had a few different sizes but most looked taller than what I really want on the roof. I wonder if my metal guy could bend up something similar to the sizes I'd like...? Hmm...Gotta go there today to pick up more stuff anyways..
