Now that the chassis is back at my house maybe I can get some more done on a regular basis!

I also picked up a NOS (old style Part #10106) 12 circuit Painless wiring harness still in the box for $180. That should make for an easier wiring job then reusing the old hacked-up harness!

I'm in the middle of my painless kit now. Replacing switches and dash parts as I go. I counted 40 wire nuts from the previous owner. Each wire is getting soldered and heat sealed now. Good luck Polar!

BFG MT's mounted up to OEM 15x8 wagon wheels! Making baby steps! Will be working in the shop on Saturday and discussing body and paint time frames with the father-in-law.

Me three, I like the old style rims and a fan of the Bf goodrich mud tires and old all terrain tires.

Thanks guys! The father-in-law and I discussed the body and paint work for the Scrambler and we think we can knock it out in a week of good work. I'm going to take few days off work in January and concentrate on the Jeep so I can get to the point of starting to get the body back on the frame. That is the plan anyway.

Well, as usual, things conspire against me. With a 60 degree day in December I was going to get some more done on the chassis but as I pulled into my driveway and parked my Cherokee I heard air leaking. Sure enough, a large, sharp rock had punctured my tire. Too big of a hole to plug so I had to put the space-saver spare on there. I also had to change the oil and I've been chasing an overheating problem that I'm afraid might be a cracked head. Dam. Anyway, I did get the OEM wagon wheels with the BFG MT's put on. No center caps yet because I still need to clean the wheels up some more but I do have a nice set for them.

So, do you have the infamous 0331 cylinder head in the Cherokee??

Unfortunately yes. I didn't even know about that issue until after I had bought the Cherokee.

While I was in PA for the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival I picked up this Acme full hardtop for the Scrambler. It needs a little cleaning, new attachment hardwear, new lift shocks for the rear hatch, and a new sunroof installed but the price was right...free!

OOH sun roof. I want to add that to my Acme top.

Check out clearwater cylinder heads(odessa ???) Is/was their ebay name. I bought a head for my 2000 4 years ago, no issue. Difference between ebay and not was length of warranty.

Well, the Jeep love/hate relationship has been mostly hate lately. I've been really trying hard to love my Jeep XJ since I bought it but it really has been nothing but an unreliable PITA for me. Starting with a dead alternator, factory radio problems (3 different head units, poor wiring and speakers that cut in/out), over heating due to failing water pump, replaced pump, thermostat, and cap (on a road trip to PA), then had plastic radiator split so replaced it, headliner falling down, and several other issues. Now it has died for good with a cracked head. Overheated and stopped at 6 am on my way to work. Pushed it down the off ramp of I-70 and into the local Toyota dealer lot. Check oil and it looked like chocolate milk. Picked it up the next day on my trailer and that is where it sits. For the amount of time I've owned it, it has been a complete let down. "Only" has 133k on it. Now I just want to replace the head and get it running and sell it.

Just bought a 2011 Toyota Rav4 for my wife and I get her 2003 Subaru Outback with 215k miles to drive. The Subaru has never let us down and only ever needed oil changes, brakes once, tires and one fuel filter.

Just a little XJ update...swapping a newer head from an '03-'06 Grand Cherokee on it. FYI, this job sucks. I've got the new head on, now I just need to torque the bolts and begin the reassembly process.
