I would really like to put a full hard top on my Scrambler. The rules are that it must seal well and decrease all noise better than any soft top. What do any of you all know for a fact? I have heard varying opinions. Are there better and worse brands? Any and all feedback is appreciated.

Thank you, Chris

Well, obviously a Postal top is the ultimate but I really like the GR8 Top I had on it earlier. It seated very well, survived many trips on the Rubicon {so very strong with twists and off road torque on the body}, and no leaks. As for the sound, it's like running around in a 55 gallon drum. To conquer that I installed some Dynamat and carpeted over that. Problem solved very nicely. It snows here and that setup was well insulated for heat as well.

I had an AJ's top on my one Scrambler. I did not find it to be noisy, but I also never took it on long trips. Never ran a soft top on a CJ8 but was quieter than my last CJ7 with a softtop

Thank you for the input. Do you not run it anymore?

Thanks for the input.

I don’t know much about the postal tops. I’ll do some research. Thanks again

Chris
Here's an example of one.
They have Postal specific front doors (notice the squared off top edge of window frame), rear door, among other things.
They originally had spray foam lining in the interior that was for the Alaskan climate.

Another nice/unique top is the Overlander World Cab.
I don't have any experience with any full hard tops though.

Only had one full hard top. Acme. It did nothing well. Sides were bowed out. Inside sounded like a tin can. Loved the look.

That’s good information. I want one for the noise reduction and interior usability

Postal & Overlander tops are called world cabs.

They made them for -7 and -8 CJs.

Without a headliner, it is like sticking a 55 gallon drum on each ear and having a toddler play them like a steelpan.

Airflow is severely limited, even with the quarter windows of the Overlander.

But it sure looks cool.

For what it's worth.... I put gray scrim foam for a headliner in my Bestop to try settling down the flapping on my roll bar and make it quieter. I was very pleased with the results. Much quieter! It's no Lexus but it is quieter than the ACME hardtop I had years ago. I bought the scrim foam on Amazon, used actual headliner glue from a cheap spray gun from Harbor Freight. It's been in over a year with no signs of issues.

This is my Rally top I bought but not using if you are interested. My Jeep had no carpet or noise silencing material so that is where the road noise came from.
