Okay i thought i had a 20 gallon tank but i recently ran out of gas. When i pushed it to the gas station i was only able to put 17 gallons in it. Well i need a new skid plate so i figured i would replace the tank and all the acces. that go with it but i can't figure out what size. They all say about 15 gallons and about 20 gallons but since i am directly between.

Anyone know of some demensions of each or other determining factors.

if you were able to put 17 gallons in you have the 20. there is always some gas left in the tank even thoough you cant use it. the pickus typically dont go to the bottom. it helps keep debris from being sucked up

That is what i figured but i kept reading "around 15 gallons".

my 15 gallon Honda takes 13 to fill. every vehicle i have ever had has been like this. you lose a few gallons in the tank somewhere.

that's odd then. my gas gauge is off, and I've run empty plenty of times and have filled it back up to 19.2 or thereabouts.... hmmm,

if it is the 20 gallon poly, would i need to replace it? I mean what would make it go bad? Maybe just drop it and flush it really well and just replace all the guts and skid plat. What do you guys think?

i wouldnt replace it if its in good shape. just clean it out and replace any worn parts.
