GREATCJ8 Restoration V3

Heading up in the morning, between 12 hr shifts, bringing up some parts and tires.
Bringing back the heater box to do the Blazer upgrade..
At home I've been Working on the driver door as the window has been off the track for, oh, 15-20 years (sigh) lol.
Also working on cleaning up the steering wheel & column.
Plus the engine is at the builder, getting rebuilt with a better cam to boot!

I'd love to see some pics of your Blazer heater upgrade when you do it please.

Just got back from Dustin's. I continue to be impressed with his work!
I retrieved the blower assembly so I can work on that & had Dustin take a picture because someone here is a picture junky 🤣
Besides, :needpic:
So here's this:

Plus when I got home I was greeted by new Jeep parts, always a good thing

I've needed one of these for awhile

That's awesome. You are so lucky to have a reliable guy working on your Jeep. Those guys are hard to find sometimes. And how frikken awesome that you're the original owner! Not many people can say that. 👍

Yeah, Dustin is great! Can't wait to wheel with him & everybody :woot:
My daughter will be the 2nd owner some day but let's hope for many (off road) miles before then 😁
Dustin suggested that I post old pics of my jeep, some are pre cellphone so they are pics of pictures. I'll see if I can add them to my profile. If not I'll post them here (again) Many pics may be buried in this site from 15-20 years ago so I guess many haven't seen them.
If you have, pardon me if I bore you with more cj8 pics :giggle:(y)
Like Chamba says, we're not obsessed or anything... Just focused 🤣👍

Also, just talked to the engine builder.
I bought this engine 2nd hand. They never told me the head was shaved And the pistons are 60 over, so we're going with a 180* thermostat to be safe. Engine pics to follow

Edit to add, mid-grade gas too for the higher compression

OK, time for an update.
So the tub has rot issues........
Dustin found a tub & I contacted the guy & made the deal.
Deal is, it's covered with Line-X, in & out
That's bad and good. Bad is I want to eventually match the paint & decals back to its original glory when it had 13 miles on it when I picked it up from the dealer.
Good news is new paint would have blown the budget out of the water after buying a "new" reproduction tub.
So now it will still have an original (just not to me) Jeep (not Joop, as it's an '83) tub.
Next years phase now is lining up as follows:

*New paint to match the original Nutmeg
*Original RENEGADE decals
*In cab cage painted at the same time to match
*Air conditioning

OH I also need to transfer my original cj8 decal from here to the new tub, eventually

I saw that tub. How will you get the liner off the outside? Mine is lined in the inside and it's tough as nails.

I saw that rub for sale I think on Facebook. Seemed like a decent price for what is.

Got the fuel lines and most of the brake lines on today. Also swapped out the front spring pads for some with rock sliders on them. Also shimmed the front to help get caster back right.
MORE greasable shackles on the front now. Still waiting for the engine to come back and the sniper kit to arrive.
