ISO Temperature Sending Unit

1982 CJ8 151 2.5L engine. Looking for the temperature sending unit part #5751811 with the 3/4" base. The part #3177594 with the smaller base does not fit. Does anyone know of a readily available substitute?

There are a couple on ebay from $80 to $100. But that is a lot.
 
Got a picture of what it looks like?
Rock auto has quite a few available, several different styles.
 
Would it be possible to use a reducer to allow the smaller base to fit in the larger opening?
