Looks like I'm going to be doing ball joints on the 79 cj7. All the searches I've done don't come up with good opinions on any of them. Even my mechanic isn't comfortable with the moog ball joints anymore (ones he installed in my work truck didn't last 2 yrs) since most everything is from china. What are you guys running. Even looked up the alloy usa ball joints and people seem to be having problems with them. Mechanic put in trw ball joints in the work truck, too early to know the outcome.

Just got uppers and lowers from NAPA for my early Bronco. They are Made in USA. Time will tell. Be sure and get the upper end ones not the jobber ones.

I am wondering the same thing! Some one told me go with Dana Spicer. I would hope Alloy USA would be good. I wish they would make these for the CJ's:

I have Moog on the Scrambler but it does have an easy life i can say they are far,far superior to the Crown ones that somehow were not even the correct taper, no idea where they have been manufactured without looking though.
I wouldn't use the crown (almost everything with them is below par). Moog use to be my go to, but lately I've had them fail, and others seem to have problems with them. On the cj7 to cj8 build I have 33", 3.5"lift. I believe the ball joints are original, so 41 yrs isn't bad. Looking for a good joint that I won't have to redo in 2-4 yrs. The other cj8 build has 35", 4.5" lift. Those I want to be able to rebuild instead of a full replace. Both have to be able to grease.
I have always used NAPA the top of the line is the NCP which is napa chassis part they also offer FAG a little cheaper I have had good luck with those as well, but first choice ncp.

The Moog ones i bought were made in the USA or thats what it says on the box anyway.

I installed Moog joints 6-8yrs ago and other than me installing them wrong the first time, they've held up great.

I think I may have some NOS AMC/JEEP in the factory box. I am out of town now but can reply on Tues. If they are CJ-7, I'll see what they are marked for mfg.
Some of the complaints were that they would get some made in the USA and some from Mexico. The Mexican made ones weren't as tight as the made in USA ones (movement in your hands before installing). They recommend getting them local so you can check before purchasing. Hope they work better than the ones the mechanic installed on my work truck. Probably the way I'll be going.

Dang things sure were purdy.
They were the ones I was thinking about. Main worry was non greasable. Guessing good non-greasable is better than a ball joint that's marginal but has a grease fitting.

I have greasable Moog ball joints in mine and they have not lasted 2500 miles.
