There's an ad on Facebook for a place called Vintage Jeep paint. Just add the .com to that and it should come up.My 1985 Scrambler has paint code 5D (dark honey metallic). Was this paint a base coat clear application or was it a single stage paint? Also any thoughts on paint vendors?
Thanks Mark
Will check it out thanksThere's an ad on Facebook for a place called Vintage Jeep paint. Just add the .com to that and it should come up.
They appear to have 5D dark honey metallic in acrylic enamel and single stage Urethane. I'm leaning towards the urethane for the durability. And it appears this is a metallic single stage. Will check it out thanks
My buddy did bodywork (with metal patches) and repainted mine with a "Jeep Green Metallic" single stage urethane. They appear to have 5D dark honey metallic in acrylic enamel and single stage Urethane. I will be happy to let you know. The only thing is it's going to be awhile maybe late this summer or fall. Painting here in Florida in summer in my garage can be a real challenge. I painted my Jaguar last summer (base coat clear coat) and from lack of painting experience I ended up with solvent pop from hell. It will need a redo. That's kind of why I've been researching single stage vs base coat clear coat. If you spray a metallic single stage and get a run I think your in trouble, if you spray a base / clear you can sand your clear but make sure your activator is correct.I have an 85 that was originally that color, and I foolishly changed colors in the late 90's. I want to put it back to 5D at some point, so please post what you end up using and how it turns out!

This isn't a show build and not a mudder just trying to build as nice as I can.
Thanks
If you are up near the Buffalo River, then yes you in God’s Country and in the middle of nowhere, which is a great area.Oh I've been planning a repaint for over a decade LOL. I'm not in any rush. My paint/body guy that I've always used passed away last year so it will either be me trying my first paint job or finding someone else around here to do it (I live in the middle of nowhere).
I'm actually in the Delta. I'm a flatlander. Poorest part of Arkansas but nobody's moving here which makes it ideal for me!If you are up near the Buffalo River, then yes you in God’s Country and in the middle of nowhere, which is a great area.
