Welding table finished up last night and looks and functions well... didn't snap a picture, but basically filled in all the connection points with weld and ground smooth... all square/level/straight... I like it when it all works out as it should.

Motor in this is trashed... won't turn over... removed head.
This hole is rusted shut... also it has grooves in it pretty bad, so I assume with the high mileage and the head gasket being torn a bit in that area, we had some leaking going on.

Boat anchor... tearing off all the good/valuable stuff and I will make a trip to the scrap man again.

When I called it a night... most of the stuff is off now, just have to finish the tear down and then back to tearing down the Scrambler.
Frame was ordered, but we are about 8 weeks out.
Once the Scrambler is torn down completely, I will get back to fixing the body (how this simple project all started).

Finally getting around to assembling my welding table... I got this a while back, but it was a DIY kit and I didn't have time when I got it... I said yesterday that I would take a break from destruction and focus on "construction".

This has to be welded up underneath and squared(no pics) and then on top welded up and ground down.

I am probably 70% of the way there.
It fits great on the cart too.

The left lower corner looks deceiving... it is square/true all around, I think that it looks high there, not sure why.
After this is all done, I will have a place under for all the clams and such... should work out well.

Put another handled on the opposite end a few inches lower than the top, then you can hang the clamps on it for easier access and not have to dig through the pile under the table. I have one of my rolling carts set up that way found it very convenient.

I actually clamped on the legs like 5 of them and said, this is good, but having something that hangs out and they are all there wold be a lot better!

Like it for sure. Did you just order a top? I use a piece of grating for a lot of different applications. Limited on room..and everything with a flat top turns into a pile of Kaos. This just gets tucked away when not in use. Saw horses, frames floor all works.

Yeah it was a DIY kit that you put together yourself.
I had the rolling cart already that was that size, so figured it would just drop in and it did.
I have wanted one for a very long time as I am tired of welding on table tops/wood, etc. and burning stuff... this is just much easier and cleaner.

The CJ7 is torn down, will turn attention back to the Scrambler (and clean up from the upcoming storm) this weekend.

Before that, I will update the welding cart with something similar to ^^^^.
Went through the scrap pile and got some stuff cut to add strength and surface area to the legs.



Will do one setup on each side... one for bigger/heavier stuff, and one for less weight.
Both pieces of angle iron should be fine, but just in case I found a larger piece for one side.

I wanted to post up a big thank you for all that provided pictures and gave me thoughts/ideas.
Some scrap and a few hours later... I have something that will work, although I might need a bar along the backside as well (I might have a small body clamp addiction issue and have too many for what I built)

BONUS pic of shop with the CJ7 gone, the engine needing to be loaded in the truck for scrap and the Scrambler in sights to be finish torn down after the storm hitting us now.

Your rotor picture above is an all time record... I think us northeast rust belters secretely like finding new records like this....and putting these parts rigs in their graves after removing the remaining usable stuff...

Cart is done... more frame damage uncovered... fun fun.









I have to find the rest of the c-clamps that I put in a box somewhere, but all in all, this cart is done for my purposes.
I found a rubberized mat to put on top to separate metal on metal contact when not welding, I think it will work good.

I knew it was weak, but when I started banging on it, the whole bottom lip fell out and a ton of dirt/debris.

Been hanging up some goodies as well... I have had them for a while but were tucked away... I want to do one thing a day for the next week or so in order to help organize the storage space... no need to have these things just sitting on shelves or taking up space.



I also continued on with the Scrambler tear down... had to cut out the front bumper in order to get to the bottom bolt on the grille that was spinning... a lot of work just to remove a grille that isn't actually more than wall art








The good news is now the fenders can come off as well as the rest of the sheetmetal.
Hopefully a couple hours today on it and we will see how it all goes.

Then some oldies but goodies came down from storage...



Then got busy with the cut off wheel for all these mementos I had from over the last few Jeeps... needed to cut them down.



I had a few extras


Jeeps and Joops... that silver one is an 83 and is a really nice clean stamping, the red one next to it (on the right) was an 85 or 86... and all Joop.

NOTE: Just notice how washed out these pictures are... I had the garage door open as the sun was strong and winds were low, even though it was only 30 degrees out... warmed up the space, but I guess my camera isn't good enough for how bright it was.

Just got back from a trash/recycle/scrap run... all the metal has been cleaned up and time for more deconstruction.



I had to cut the firewall off after the heater was removed as the fenders are decent, but were welded in such a way I couldn't get the nuts off. So I cut the firewall (well, scared it with the sawzall as it was paper thin) and then I was able to get the fender off and then cut the bolts out. Pretty interesting engineering to reverse to get it apart. Front frame toe board mounts were hockey pucks with 3/4" bolts through them that just spun... so cutting/torching once again.




I took a break after this and went onto cleaning up a thick end dash pad to put on the wall... top has a ton of cracks in it and it is rusted through on the back, so this will make good wall art.
