Does anyone know anything about a T999? Is it a stout automatic ? Do they make after market floor shifters? Is it expensive to rebuild? Does it do well on the highway? Any input would be appreciated.
I've got the 999 and been using it behind a 360 for a year. It's held up fine, but my engine is basicly stock. If you want to get more radical on power consider switching to a 727 out of a FSJ. Thay are cheap to rebuild compared to most automatics (a lot of trans shops refer to them as a torqueflite 6). The same floor shifters fit that work on either the 727 or 904, not sure which. The top gear is 1:1, no overdrive.
I am using a 904 behind an injected 304 with out any problems. I was told that a 904 and a 999 are the same tranny except the 999 has a lock up torque converter. I am using a Lokar floor shifter on mine which was way better to the cable shifter I was using at the first. I would strongly recomend the lokar shifter for me it has been great.
