Texas vehicle inspections

I have not run antique plates- so it may be the same here, but I have never tried.

In VA, if you run the antique plates there are limitations to the driving. I would not be able to use it as a Daily driver. I did that for my GTO though. Good deal.

No! Texas is Texas, as far as inspection laws / license plate regulations / rules / costs. It doesn't matter where you go.
 
While I miss a lot of things not living in Texas, inspections are not one of them!:rotfl:

And the cost for license plates is $24/ yr. That is for my LJ, CJ, K1500 or Motorhome!

Got antique plates on my '63 Corvair- one time $24 fee. Restricted to weekends only, or club events or going to the shop/ parts store. ( I can always find a way to fall into one of the catagories!) ;)

The OP obviously ran into a jack-arse who was trying to scam the system and make some $$$$.
 
Just passed my VA safety inspection tonight. All of the emmisions stuff under the hood is gone. Just left the cat. I was worried. But had a good end. Phew.

actually that is not exactly true. there are a handful of what are referred to as "emission counties" Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Dallas, Tarrant, and Travis I know for surre. I live in Waller county right next to harris and fort bend. I have to make sure i go to an inspection station in waller for my 2009 truck, b/c if i go to one in harris they will do the full emission inspection which is $40. The basic safety inspection is only $14.

but to the op. that inspector was full of crap. did he put you into the system? if he didn't i would just go to a different inspection station. if he did you have to go back to that station. i hope they have another inspector if that is the case b/c i would go talk to that guy. :crazy:
