Very interesting dual Contour fan video/info - amp draw and PWM setup

I just came across this video looking for PWM setups for the dual Contour fans I run and I had to share it... a couple very intersting pieces of information in here.

He's using a basic Amazon single-output PWM controller (just to demo, you'd need a proper temp controlled unit) and an Infiniti stock PWM dual fan relay setup that looks to be very affordable. Should be pretty darn robust as an option if you want to run the two fans together like he shows.

But the bigger thing for me is the amerage data that he shows with the meter as the fans run... I knew that PWM would help with the "inrush" or turn-on current, but he shows that there is literally none at all. Then he has both fans running 100% and the draw is barely over 20 A combined.

I've wanted a PWM setup forever because the Contour fans move TOO MUCH air IMO with the nice aluminum radiator I have. I never liked how they would turn on full blast and the coolant temp would drop all at once and they'd cut right back off.

They're also SO DANG LOUD. I'd thought to go to two coolant switches to separate the two but never went there because I knew the answer was really a PWM setup.

With the stroker install I'm going to use a Holley Terminator X ECU, which has built-in PWM control for two fans - perfect for the Contour setup.

Working with Eli Fixes Jeeps (Eli Lalich), he told me about this NOS solid-state relay, it's pricey, but it's capable of PWM operation up to 1000 Hz and 20A. They're expensive, but he's used them on his builds and said that they work great without generating a lot of EMI that can mess with the EFI system:

My plan now is to run two of these, one for each fan, controlled from the two Terminator feeds. This video is just what I needed to feel ok about the 20A limit on the relays.
