I stopped at the local Jeep dealer today and inquired about the new unlimited. Jeff says they should be getting one 'in the next couple weeks' and that he'll call me when it comes in. "You could be the first one in the area owning one..." he adds.

I also inquired about the video. They don't have any, but he'll mail me one when they come in. He said the product announcement video came in, but not the customer one.

So, when the new Jeep arrives, I'll get a call, I'll go test drive it, maybe take a picture or two. I'll also press the dealer for the product video that they have and see if I can't get a copy. It might be worth an email/snail-mail to Chrysler to see if I can get one too.

I don't think I can afford the new Jeep right now, but I'll certainly go test drive it! It's gotta be a fun ride. :)

BTW, Hi there, new guy, don't own a CJ8, but want one. Someday. :)
 
Don't wimp out

Don't wimp out and buy this new Unlimited crap. It's weak. Buy yourself an old CJ-8 and restore it. Then you'll have something to brag about.

My budget fits the restoration angle ;)

i.e. almost no budget. So, I'll have to get something wicked cheap, then make it not cheap ;)

Yes, new car would be nice, never owned one, but I also like that if _I_ rebuild it, I'll be able to repair it, and quite honestly, Chrysler products are still a mechanics friend - or at least friendly to his cash register.

Once I have a REAL budget, I'll begin my quest. I could use a trip to Alaska ;)
 
side hardtop windows

Is it just me, or does the side windows on the hardtop look very undersized and smaller than the normal TJ top. Looks almost stupid.

People here can help you in your search, don't jump at the 1st one you see..
People here have helped many people like you become owners of an 8. If I were you I would be willing to travel down south to get away from salt=cancer. These things average around 20 years old & if they have seen too many northern Winters they will be rotting away.
What part of Maine are you from? I have a camp up in the Grey area near Poland Spring on Middle Range Pond.
It's wicked cool (just had to say wicked;) :D )
