Vintage vibes radio

Looks great. I hope to install mine today. Maybe I need to order a USB flush mount adapter. Just curious...when did the odometer go to just 5 digits (plus tenths)? Mine has 6 digits plus tenths.
1981 was the last year for 5 digit odometer. Everything after that had 6 digits.

As for the USB, I've seen some nice installs in the glove box as well as using an OEM under-dash cigarette lighter housing to put it in. Keeps from having to drill holes in the dash panel.

I ended up placing it in the glove box because there was a hole from the manufacturer already there (anyone know the original purpose that hole was designed for?), I just had to make it a little bit bigger and it made for a nice shelf/place to stick an old iPhone with my music loaded on it and keep it out of sight in the glove box. The usb extension did come with a nice mounting piece to place under the edge of the dash, similar to the cigarette lighter but because of the reasons above I went with the glove box. Retrosound does show the usb interface being installed in place of cigarette lighters and it looks super clean.

Here's a pic of what all came with the extension. I got it for $30 on amazon.

Leave yourself plenty of time to figure out each little detail of adjustment. The wire connections were the easy part. Since they make these radios so adjustable to fit so many different vehicles there's a lot of tweaking to try and get it just right.

To make it somewhat easier on adjusting the the two shafts I left them hand tight on the shaft plate so I could still move them and then put the radio in face first to the front of the dash to line up the shafts with the holes before using a wrench to tighten permanently in place. You'll see what I'm talking about once you preassemble the radio pieces.
I was also able to do the install without ever removing the dash though I did have to remove the a/c assembly, not a big deal though.

AC? What's that? I thought that's why the top came off and the windows cranked down.

Couldnt agree more. The a/c was there and not charged when I bought it and I've never even bothered to try charging it even when I lived in Texas driving around in 100+ degree temps during the summer.

Hey Jersey- Is your Retrosound one where the faceplate and knobs can be mounted separately and the body/brain be mounted remotely? Might be interested...

Maybe for a quadratrac Jeep? I know they have the transfer case lock in the glove box.

My Secretaudio radio came in today and it is that way. It has a remote dial and face plate with a separate brain and also has a wireless remote. It' should work fine for me.
