Want to swap Steering column

I want to swap in a tilt steering column. I know this is not difficult, I think I even have the right column. The coupler to shaft is correct. I got the tilt column out of a '78 Waggy; it has the column shift (I want that). My 2 questions are: This column shift linkage shifted a T400, I have the TF999...looks the same, will it fit and work without any adapting? Is the wiring a direct match to plug up to my harness, again, looks the same, but is it?

John,

I think the wiring is the same, I don't know about the linkage though. Give me a ring, i'll drive over and help you install it one day.

I know this thread is old. The spacing between the indents of the gears on a T400 column and a TF999 column are different. I learned this after a T400 column install on my TF999 transmission. I just wanted to put that bit of information here in case someone needs it in the future.

I traded the auto tilt column from my 79 That was QUADRATRAC ( th400 ) and he couldn't get it to work right with the tf727

So basically the indicator tree would be different. Just swap that over the cover and it should be fine.

I'm still working on it....damn y'all are an impatient group....

No, actually I just got used to the non-tilt and never changed it out. I still have that Waggy column on the shelf in the garage.

I found this thread looking for one
That I remember grantshire and ted showing how the Waggy colomn works in a cj

At least I finally got a response to my original post....:woohoo:
