Well finally start building

Not much visually but man a bunch work. Had to remove paint from that angled surface on top of body this took some fiddling time. Didn't want to use chem stripper (was good for flat stuff but pain in the ass for little stuff). Was thinking the inside of the body (tub) was going to be a cake walk then got to inspecting and the original seam sealer was in pretty good shape but in places it was cracked. Upon further inspection there was hydrated iron(III) oxide which was standard on all AMC products.
So the bed area is cleaned and seam areas are ready for rust encapsulator then seam sealer, then primer, then lizard skin. I'm thinken I will paint the the inner body with the exterior paint color. Thoughts?Jeep 63.jpg

I don't have any direct input because my interior is still at your stage now. I had the whole tub sandblasted before doing repairs and painting on the exterior, I replaced all the seam sealer as well. The seam sealer is looking great still however I'm really dreading the prep work to remove the flash rust in the tube from exposure to humidity.
Did you land on a process that you would recommend to prep the tub interior for the eventual liner application?
 
The product I use is metal prep (POR 15 I think. Eastwood or TP Tools ) sells it. After removing the paint and sanding I spray it on and scrub it down with a red scotch brite pad. Then just wipe the surface with a rag. When dry it leaves a zinc phosphate coating to inhibit rust. I've used it on a couple restorations and it has worked great. The scrambler in the pic has been bare metal for probably a month and was outside (with an old car cover for a week). I wipe it down with solvent when I get ready for body work and paint.

I stripped a good to bare metal 30+ years ago with product from Captain Lee. The hood has been bare metal since in a shed and hasn't rusted. Kinda amazing to me. Unfortunately I don't think the company is in business anymore. It took the tough factory paint off easily. I think their target audience was the Corvette crowd with their paint stripper.
 
What I have observed. The original seal sealer is basically fine but when you find it to be cracked there is rust living underneath. So in your build repair keep a eye out for cracked seam sealer. Just a observation .
