Just got through reading how to make wood rails and all the problems people are having getting the original type bolts for mounting them.
Question: from what I saw on one post, the back bolts are rounded torx and the front are flat torx. Is this correct? I would have thought they
would all match. I only have two long rounded torx bolts that came with a bunch of bolts I bought on ebay. Unless someone has come up with a
source for these, I'm planning on using shorter ones and having threads from a longer bolt welded onto them. It's not a head bolt. I think
that should be strong enough for side boards.
And in the writeup on making the wood brackets/blocks for the back of the sideboards, it says to use a 7/8" bit for the holes. I'm figureing this
is a typo and it should be 7/16" for the 3/8" bolts unless for some reason there is some major flexing going on and those large holes are to
allow movement to keep the wood from splitting. What would be the correct size hole for the blocks?
You guys always come up with the answers. Thanks.
