Man, I want to make one of these some day. Maybe next year after I get her running. 2400 miles or about 40 hrs driving...that would be a heck of a shakedown run!

One day 14 hrs. and 2335 mi...non stop. Man when I make that trip there better be cold beer ready. I'd love to make the trip one year but being out here on the left coast makes it a little tough. If I did this I'd probably take a couple of weeks to do it right. I know the rig can make it, I just need to find the time!

Bugman how bout next being in Colorado or Moab again :D stir the pot.

If you are coming to this years Nats just let me know and I can have some cold beer fer ya

Oh well, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to make it this year. Stephanie has to go to Clemson for the 2nd summer session to pick up two courses to get her on track for her sophmore classes. Her move in day is that Saturday or Sunday. In a couple of years, it wouldn't be a big deal, but since this is her first long stay away from home, feel I should be there to help kick her out, ummm, mean move her.

Guess I'll just have to wait a year to make the Nats in Moab, or was that Colorado?

WOW! I'll watch the video, but I don't want to ride with you. What type tow rig do you use?

That's about 167 mph average speed with no fuel or bathroom stops!!

John I think that is 1 day and 14 hours, total 38 hours.
BUGMAN, if you make it I'll be sure to have plenty of cold beer for you.

What state is going to win with the most scramblers there this year? Is cold beer still going to be the prize?

I guess if someone twist my arm, I'll supply the first cooler full of beer. :D

Checking out the park this weekend

We'll be driving the Scrambler up this coming weekend to the park to do some scouting. George (GScram) will be coming up too.

We should have a much better feel (and some pictures) of accomodations after this weekend. We'll check out the park ammenities as well as local hotels etc and should have info next week.

Registration is open.
Eric (Bigwalton) has made a great registration form online.
Here's a link.

Also, here's a link to the parks new website.
A friend of mine is working on it for Golden Mountain and he'll be adding content in coming days so keep on checking in.

WOW, that's SUCH a better site. Checked out the Map, looks like plenty of ground to cover...

I'm stoked.

167 mph average? Well, I did put a Hemi in it...but the correct time is 38 hours. That way I can still hold my beer. (joking) I'd love to be out there this year but the time element won't allow it. I'd be in for a Moab or Colorado locale if it were to happen. I trust y'all will have a great time out there and I'll wait to see some pics and read the stories. When I do make it to a scramble I'll take ya up on the offer for a cold beer!

My bad....It would be impressive though....

No because folks might not want to camp. Any camping is additional and needs to be worked out with the park directly.

We are hoping to have a hotel list up next week with places that have been visited to check for basic cleanliness and suitable parking for trailers/trucks.

OK looks like I can only reasonably bring one of our rigs to this event. Should I bring the Scrambler and play on mild trails?

Or bring our mutant CJ-8 juggy contraption and try and keep it green side up for the weekend?

What do you think all?

This is our first nationals and Im dying to put a few screen names to faces.

Later
Sean

If we go we're only going to do the mild stuff. Still need to upgrade the steering, and swap the tranny.

Your definition of mild trails and mine might be a good bit different. I see a lift, big tires and a winch. You're at LEAST moderate :D

That's a tough call if one is the only option... Good thing is that it sure looks like you can't go wrong either way

I certainly understand the issues with time and money to get to the National, I know it's been my problem since the first one I got to, but two things to keep in mind:
1. the SOA rotates this event around the country to help all members at least have a shot at getting there, so it could be three more years before its this close to where you are again, and
2. even with the rotation, the SOA won't host this in the extremes of the country because it would prevent too many people from coming, so no southern California, no Maine, no NC, etc. A large percentage of attendees are non-trailer folks that drive their rigs to the event and the SOA has to take that into account.

Just laying that out there in case you're looking at a 10, 14, whatever hour drive and thinking that maybe it will be closer sometime soon.
