Just my opinion but I wouldn't build it. I'd keep it stock, clean it up and fix/replace (with NOS or VG used OEM parts) anything that was broken and just enjoy driving it. Nice original examples (especially higher optioned ones) are very hard to find. I know that is easier said then done because I love to modify my Jeeps. If I just HAD to modify it, I would only do things that are easily swapped back to original (and this does not include axle swaps). Small lift, 32" tires max, wheel spacers or newer, wider wheels to help with the narrow track axle look. That is about all. Also keep every original part to put back on later.
I know this is your Jeep to with as you please but you did ask for opinions...
Gazzo, she's still a work in process. Keeping it stock for the most part, only thing over the top was a new carpet kit. She's running and driving now, just need to get the exhaust pipe replaced.
