Mikes 81 mongrel scrambler

There's a fundamental flaw there. It requires coming to the site.

I, sadly, go many, many days between getting on here. Like today, if I start in on it, I end up spending way too much time here :banghead: :rotfl:

The first step. Admitting you have a problem.

You are working too hard. You need more Scrambler time Eric.

Honestly. Other than making it easy to put pictures in posts, I rather seriously hate what Tapatalk has become.

Let's have more CJKU-8 now...

Tapatalk is a quick way to see whats new on the forum with the preview pane thingy cause it gives you a preview photo as well and not just words. Its always a swipe away on a simple tab and doesn't make you view the whole thing, and in about 10 seconds you can get up to speed on a full days worth of postings from a tiny 6" device that's always most likely in your pocket. you don't miss any threads. Call me biased tho cause 3/4 of my internet play time is spent only on said 6" device.

Defense of tapatalk and your lack of being on this site rant over, lets bring on more slipknot tshirt wielding fabrication mastery!!!

I tell it like I sees it.

Unless you don't like the CJ-6-ish proportions of the rear wheel well position (and I don't have an issue given the practicality of the departure angle improvement it creates), what more could this build have?

There's a reason that the JKUs are on every trail everywhere being wheeled to beat all, they just plain WORK off-road. Old Jeep purists may not like the look, and for good reason, but anyone who has driven them off-road or seen what they can do in person with shockingly little work knows they're performance is superior in every way to any previous Jeep with a similarly small amount of work. A Rubicon JKU with a 2" budget boost, swapped on flat fenders (no cutting, just bolt on), a regear and 37s and you can take on pretty much anything anywhere. Jeep got the underpinnings of the JKU right and the Pentastar was the last piece of the puzzle.

Yes, they have inherent weak spots, yes the front axle housing may snap, yes the factory ball joints suck, yes there's death wobble issues as they age, but every Jeep in history has had things wrong with it from the factory.

What we have here takes care of every possible issue with a JKU and gives it a dead-simple driveline with CJ looks. You can drop Hemis and LS motors into a JKU, but it still looks like a JKU and has computers and wires and ABS and.... You can swap in a Cummins but it still looks like a JKU.

If nothing else, it's fantastic because coming up with something that I haven't seen yet on a JKU is a rare occurrence!

I'm in love with this build.

Well said on the JKUs. I have owned 3. My first one was very similar to what you described above that I was able to use while I built my CJ7. '07 JKUR, 3" bolt on lift, 37s on beadlocks with PSC bolt on steel fenders. That thing would climb and go through anything I pointed it at almost to a point where it was too easy. And then I'd drive it to work the next day going 80MPH down the interstate. Love them or hate them, they simply WORK.

I sold my last one because frankly I have too many toys and I know I can pick up another JKU any day. Not gonna part with the Scramblers or my go fast toys.

A couple pics of my '07:

Graveltravels - if this boggs down your thread feel free to tell me and I will delete. AMAZING work keeping the JKU frame down

No worries everyone! Funny how threads take on a life at times.

As for EFI, yes, it's gonna get the eze-EFI. Got a couple buddies running that. Works wonders on waking the jeep up. After buying the CJ 7, and having fun with it, I've remembered what a pain in the *** a carb is. Below -10c, start it 4-8 times before it'll stay running. At least I get to say something to my kids most parents won't, "hey, run out and kick the jeep down" :) I remember dad telling me that! :p never thought I'd say it to my kids!!

Body's off the frame. Weld, weld, weld!! By the time I get home, welding should be done. We'll get the cage over, modify it, I have to bring the th400 to a tranny shop for the 23 spline output install, and get my front end and parts. Plus do a birthday party for a 10 year old. Busy 4 days out

Hey Adamh, what have you got for go fast toys? I was gonna ask earlier, but was tired. Working 13 hour nights kicks the crap out of a guy.

I'd choose the Holley every time over the EZ-EFI. The issue is not having access to the programming with the FAST unit.

These kinda angles and trails, Steve, this is his jeep, has gone to EFI and loves it. Makes a huge difference in keeping it running and instant power. This pic was when he had a good off road carb, and it kept dying at the most inopportune times during the winching process. And with the extremes in temperatures, I'll take the EFI. Just my preference tho!

The Holley ECU can control timing where the EZ-EFI can not which is a big deal. With the Holley system, you can start off with the TBI and when you are ready to change to multiport, it's just a wiring change. Then you need this-

 :woot: :woohoo:

I knew I liked you.

Just referring to the fact it will have EFI, no direct experience with any of the systems being discussed.

Currently in my garage:

2015 Camaro SS Convertible
2015 Harley Street Glide with some work done
2015 Ram HEMI
2012 Grand Cherokee HEMI Overland
2013 Hurricane Deck Boat
2 old as cuss Yamaha Waverunners with some work done.
plus the two Scramblers in my sig.

I recently sold a 2014 JKUR that was on 35s, some bumpers, 3" lift. It was nice and I enjoyed it but all of the above for just me and my wife plus a 1 yr old girl I wanted to get at least one thing gone. Now I'm deciding if we really need the GC. My wife works from home 100% of the time or she is on international travel. If we go somewhere we are usually in the truck. Her GC just sits.

Anyway, back to your incredible build.

Sweet man!! That's wicked!! I have an addiction to vehicles too. And no wife to tell me to be smarter. My scrambler mutt, an 85 CJ 7, a 93 YJ, which is being built for my oldest, an 06 300c SRT 8, a 2012 GC SRT 8, and a 2015 dodge Powerwagon for my jeep hauling and work needs. And always looking for more jeeps!! ;)
