Mikes 81 mongrel scrambler

I run a narrowed 2 door JK back seat in my Scrambler (and LJ too). So much safer for the passengers with the head rests.
I love this build...

The cool part is I don't have to narrow it!! I can even run some armrests/storage boxes in there. Ammo cans maybe

I need to rework my rear wheel wells and widen the bed when I go at my tub and that's exactly what I was hoping to do. Excellent.

She looks like a jeep!! Now we are replacing the front axle, and mocking up the 16" ORI's for it. Then she'll move to another buddy's place for motor, wiring, steering and brakes. She's coming!!

Cage is in, and tied in to the frame. We used leaf spring bushings for the frame tie ins. Allow for a bit of damping.

And we repurposed the sliders, and turned them into a set of steps. Welded them straight to the frame in 3 spots, gusseted and reinforced. Should stand up to almost anything I can throw the heep into!!

Nice. My roll bar is tied into my frame (or was) but directly welded. I had not thought about the bushings.

The body is dampened, so I figured if I wanted to keep the squeaking down, this would be best. It'll allow some flex with the body.

Front end came out. Getting all put together with nice new shiny parts!! It'll be back under the jeep Sunday or Monday. I had a change in jobs again. Quit where I was at, am closer to home, but not close enough. So thank goodness for friends!! This beastie wouldn't be where it's at without my welder buddy Brent, who's done the lions share of the body for me. And now it's going to another buddy, Adam, who's going to do the mechanicals. He's already rebuilt the t case, installed the output adaptor shaft into the tranny, and he and Brent will set the motor and drivetrain in while I disappear again to make money to fund my jeep addiction. Oh, and live too. ;)

And all these gross, burnt out steering components and the track bar are being replaced with nice new shiny bits, again, thanks to 4WP's extreme warranty!! It should all be in tomorrow. It's looking good to have this thing running within my time frame. But holy crap, I'm bleeding money right now!! :)

Excellent!! Are you going to leave the patina on that PSC bumper or paint it? Seems like something on this rig needs to bear the mark of the fire, no?

Love the progress.

You are making great progress! ! I like the spring bushings for cage tie-ins too. You just have to watch how they are used, they can become a "hinge" in a bad situation. But as long as they are short and positioned right they work great.

Keep up the good work! !

They shouldn't, as both sides will be tied in, and the body is bolted down. Although, it would make servicing everything easy, wouldn't it? ;)

And the bumper will go black, to match the rest. I wanted green, but got voted down by my kids!! Hahaha!! Dammit. Seriously tho, I have my "HILLBILLY" tag one of my welders cut for me out of 3/8" plate that went thru the fire, and matches the bumper. That will get clearcoated and go back on the front of the bumper again!

New steering components, new track bar. Gonna need a custom rad on this build, as the steering box sits right where a stock rad would.
