This Jeep is very rough... hard to see as they bondoed over most of it and slapped new paint on it a while back, but the rear end is completely gone... the tailgate bottom is rusted out in a way I have never ever seen before, I will get some pics later on that.

Frame rear section is bad and tub is shot in the floor.

I will part it out, try to sell off the interior as a lot.
It has cruise, nice auto column, dash panel was cut, but good gauges.
Carpet looks nice, has roll bar pad... replacement windshield (double rib) and hood has a huge crease in it.
Grille is nice, cover as well... bumper has an slight bend to it on one side, hooks are there, but a little rusty.
Has chrome bumperettes, fold/tumble hardware is all there for the rear seat which appears nice, just filthy.
Dash pad has one small crack, but back is nice.
Doors are in very nice shape, just one spot on the passenger side pillar, no cracks, Laredo panels are good.

I picked it up because it was close to me, and it was a Laredo setup mostly there and the price was decent.

Tires/wheels will sell instantly, 33's on aftermarket rims sell within a few hours of putting them on CL as new stuff is just so pricey.

The two previous Scramblers I had were both manual brakes, and I also felt they also stopped very well with 31's.

My understanding, and I could be wrong, is that both, the master cylinder, as well as the pedal assembly for manual brake vehicles is different than those of a power booster equipped set up on the same vehicle.

The manual pedal assembly is supposedly set up to allow for greater mechanical leverage on the master cylinder rod, which itself is sized appropriately, and is different from a booster equipped vehicle.

This was what I was taught many years ago in a class on brake systems in general, but I'm sure there are people here who could verify, or correct me from actual experience with our CJs.

Also, there's supposed to be a vacuum check valve on the booster, to give you enough assist in case of engine cut out at highway speed.
 
Costs from a 1986 sticker: power steering $274 and power brakes $125.

Amazing that I see so many Jeeps with power steering but manual brakes. Was this an AMC or dealer-influenced decision since most Jeeps were probably general production / dealer-ordered rather than customer ordered?

Too bad it has been sold out from under me. :( Even talked to the seller on the phone. He said he was sending me more pics (only had 3 exterior pics with ad). I told him I was "very interested" I just needed a few more pics. Next I know he sold it. I talked to him within 3 hours of him posting it for sale. Fustrating.
 
I am finding that things that go up sell very quickly these days... I guess that is true with the FSJ stuff as well.

I appreciate it. I'm doing pretty good at finding them, it's finding the right price and getting a deal done first.
